Westbrook suffered a severe concussion

Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook was forced to leave Monday night's game at Washington during the first quarter with a concussion, which was caused when the back of Westbrook's helmet/head slammed against the knee of Redskins linebacker London Fletcher.

More news has been coming out about what went down on the field after the incident; it turns out that Brian Westbrook was unconscious after the hit to the helmet.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid confirmed it, during his weekly radio show on WIP radio with Howard Eskin and Ike Reese in Philadelphia. He stated that Westbrook had lost consciousness due to the blow he received to the back of the head. Reid also mentioned that Brian had no memory of the incident.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, these facts indicate that Brian Westbrook suffered a severe concussion.

Even though the facts are there that this was indeed a sever concussion, Andy Reid is still "counting on" Westbrook playing against the Giants on Sunday.

But before you set your fantasy rosters on the word of Andy Ried, I am willing to bet that the Eagles doctors will be telling both Andy and the Eagles that Westbrook should not play this Sunday, as it is only six days after a severe concussion.

I am no Nostradamus, but I believe that LeSean McCoy will be the starting running back this Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Eagles take on the arch-rival New York Giants in Philadelphia.
