Bring back Mcnabb to backup Vick.

This organization has a serious PR crisis with its fans and they need to find a dynamic way to energize their fanbase. I am not motivated. i dont care . Im hardly interested in anything the Eagles are doing. My excitement meter is near zero. I suspect most Eagle fans feel the same way. their is a group of morons, I wont mention them by name, that believe this team is somehow reeling the superbowl trophy closer to Philly by keeping Reid and staying the course. I submit that they are farther than they have been since Reid has been here and that the team teeters on self destruction. My reasons are glaringly apparent. First, the Eagles cast of players isnt even near playoff contention. The defense sucked and the offense although capable of moving the ball isnt physical enough to beat the Niners, Packers, Saints...and so on. They arent close on both sides of the ball. Now , the next scapegoat to me appears to be Vick and Reid. A Vick failure this year almost guarantees he ops our of his contract and wll you know what happens to Reid. Hes gone too. The Eagles go on a major rebuild with a new coach and well the rest will be history. Its happening right before your eyes. You think Vick can succeed w/o a full cast of weapons? With Desean gone and no replacement he will be like a lamb to slaughter. He will be this organizations next victim along with Reid. Two for one and DONE

  • If you watched the playoff game between the niners and saints the only conlusion that can be drawn is the Eagles arent close.
  • ...and bringing back McNabb will get them closer? A man who pretty much gave up on his team because he didn't want to be a backup in Minnesota? A player whose study habits were questioned in his last two stops? I haven't even gotten to his play yet and won't because we all know how that went. This would be a horrible move for them, hollywood. That's what the Eagles need next season...some diehard fans screaming for McNabb every time Vick throws a bad ball!...NOT! They need to start thinking about a replacement for Vick as a backup...not some 37 year old who probably won't be an Eagle again until he announces his retirement.

Why do you continue to contradict yourself? You talk about the Eagles needing to get closer to a Super Bowl and question them staying the course yet in 2 different threads you call for them to bring back 2 players that have played like complete **** since leaving the Eagles (Bradley and McNabb). You are welcome to your opinion but maybe you need to stop and think before you throw the word moron out at anyone else for theirs!
  • I can tell you right now I WOULD NOT BE SCREAMING FOR MCBALL-IN-THE-DIRT ANYTIME SOON. We all know he can't get this team over the top, but for veteran min I think he could spell Vick for a few games until he's healthy.
  • yeah, exactly
  • He finally made sense Hollywood. What's next?
  • is anyone calling for Adrian petersons head. He didnt exactly have a stellar season. The point is Mcnabb was brought to Minnesota strictly to give Ponder time to get ready. In washington, shanahan wasnt satisfied that McNabb was on pace to break the redskin yardage record and was on pace for a 4000+ yd season. And thats with no one to throw too. he would be a gift for Philly as a backup. And I would trust him in the playoffs if Vick went down.
  • I was just saying what i saw with bradley. As far as mcNabb is concerned its unlikely he will get a starting job anywhere so why not unload VY and his fat salary and sign McNabb cheap as a backup. He got Vick to Philly I cant imagine vick would mind. But if you think this team adds a couple of scrubs and lets go of Jackson that will be enough is crazy.
  • Don't put words at my fingertips. I know they need to improve and with Reid knowing that his time could be coming to an end I hope he makes some moves that have to be made. Get that linebacker we all have been screaming for...I have constantly stated that if they let Jackson leave (which I don't want to see) they need to replace him with a top receiver and punt returner...no steps back.
  • Good point Hollywood. I was impressed with Smith too. The 49'ers, Saints, Packers and the G-men are all ahead of the Eagles and that's just the NFC.
  • we would have to give ten million and say we are sorry for trading you. no thanks
  • he might get league minimum
  • Bringing back McNabb would not be a PR savior. In fact most Eagles fans were ready to see him go. Just like most Eagles fans are ready to see Reid go. I wouldn't mind giving McNabb a shot to back up for around what they paid Vince Young. Maybe even less. He's gotta understand that he's a backup now though.
  • I disagree and think he would be welcomed back in that role.
  • I don't know. There was a lot of bad blood with him leaving the way he did. The guy has to realize that he isn't a starter anymore. It might be hard for him to accept the fact he is the clipboard holder. He couldn't do it in Washington or in Minnesota. I wonder if he really could do that here. If he's willing to accept that, then I say bring him back.
  • I agree with you but a backup to Vick is like being a starter.
  • he was good in Washington was on pace to break Redskin yardage records. So Imnot sure what big beef was with him. So lets not act like he cant throw at all thats ludicrous. He can replace Vick for long spells if he is injured and knows the eagle bullsh*t real well. Thats a bonus.
  • His rating was 77 due to his completion % and his TD/Interception ratio. Not good at all let alone enough, hollywood. What good did all the yards the Eagles put up do this year? Where are they now?
  • McNabb wasn't winning games in D.C. He also did a poor job of learning the playbook and he came in somewhat out of shape. He refused to wear a wrist band with the playbook on it. He was a failure in D.C. In fact he was so bad they couldn't wait to give the ball to turnover happy Rex Grossman.
  • Not much better with all their replacements. maybe its a team game. Ever think of that?
  • That doesn't take away from the fact he played poorly enough to be sent to third string.
  • Sure...it's a team game when you are trying to justify one of the players you talked up that's played like ****...if it's a rookie that's struggling that you were down on he's a bum.
  • I agree with you Hollywood.
  • I honestly think McNabb would rather retire than be a backup.
  • I would rather see us draft a quarterback. We would have to give up something to move up in the draft.
  • We have our QB and do not have to think down the road anymore. Its our time now or never. Add the parts and keep Jackson.
  • Hollywood that's your buddy and one of his fake IDs. I think he's talking about the Cryboys, because they need a new QB.
  • I agree.
  • I think so too.
  • he could start for the Cowpies
  • Told you ravens. Learn baby learn
  • they won't beat new england. good holly root for them that way we won't have to listen to you whine anymore
  • They will beat Patriots. You think that was ravens full tilt? You have no idea whats coming.
  • Wow! More excitement than I ever saw you give to "your" Eagles...so are you a Raven's fan or aren't you? You told me that you didn't like them before. Regardless, they needed 2 badly forced balls that went for picks from a third string quarterback to win by 7 at home...they better play better than that against Brady and co. or they will be watching the Super Bowl at home just like most of us.
  • by six
  • Like I said it is a set up for NE. The ravens and Flacco will bring their A game.
  • I told you they run a good organization. they dont play. like ray lewis says the only goal is winning the superbowl. "we dont care what people think we look like. We only care about being in a position to win it"
  • You called it Hollywood.
  • Congrats Hollywood.
  • if your team had as many points as you have ids they would have made the playoffs lmao
  • no..
  • We had harbaugh and got rid of him to keep Reid. Thats funny.
  • Got rid of Harbaugh to keep Reid??? Extremely confused by that one!
  • they should have known when he was the special teams coach they had some talent. Reid should have gone upstairs and Harbaugh should have been given the HC job. Reid isnt in the same league as the coaches in the championship games. he was when he had McNabb early in his career but he sucks now. Reids time in Philly is rapidly coming to an end. Trust me its over.
  • It still makes no sense hollywood! Looking back you may be able to say this but when the move was made he was a first year defensive backs coach who was a very good special teams coach for a number of years. Not even the great nostrawoodus could have predicted their futures. Not to mention that Reid wasn't that far off a string of very good years...hiring Harbaugh as head coach at that time wouldn't have made any sense at all!
  • Who is Nostrawoodus Eazy?
  • Reid time was done after the 2005. This has been the biggest scam in football history. Only dumb scared Eagle fans think there isnt life after reid. Flip gets the biggest Reid loser award.
  • Only YOU would think it was a good idea to get rid of a coach a year after a Super Bowl run...only you!
  • I love this, because I actually thought of the same thing. Then I remembered how big of a crybaby Mcnabb is & I just don't want to deal w/ it ever ever.. Ever again :)
  • That Super Bowl was ours. We bleed Greentilldeath in Philly and we're not going to allow McChoke back even if he is a backup.
  • i would rather Don 5 retire as an eagle..and just work for NFL Network and not worry about haters anymore.

now for the eagles, Mike Vick will NEVER win us a championship PERIOD end of story he cant last a full season. i love the guy because he is really good but IMO he is not an improvement from McNabb say what you want but McNabb always got us in the playoffs and that is the truth..... but if you think about it there is a little hope 2007 we finished 8-8 by winning our last 4 games and in 2008 we when to the NFC Championship so off history we have a chance...
