DON'T GO THE WRONG RAY ON THE RHODES TO REPLACING ANDY.

WHILE 8-8 could end Andy Reid's tenure with the Eagles, it will FAR from doom him.

If Reid is fired, unless he wants time off, he'll be a Head Coach somewhere in the NFL next season. (Perhaps Washington or Dallas?) His resume speaks for itself anywhere in the NFL.

QUICK QUESTION: How many Super Bowl did Jeff Fisher win?

Answer: Zee-Ro!

Fisher's career winning percentage is .542, compared to Reid's .609. Fisher was HEAVILY courted, and enticed out of retirement. Reid would receive similar treatment and his choice of jobs. So he's got no worries.

The Eagles on the other hand, that's a different story.

When I look out at the landscape I don't see anyone I like quites as much as Jon Gruden. He's an offensive mind (which Jeff Lurie wants), and when I think back to what he did in Oakland... Look, Al Davis was NOT an easy man to work for.

Gruden accomplished what he did with an over-the-hill roster, and meddling owner, and a predictably, one dimensional defense. Then he goes to Tampa and before Malcom Glazer (the Bucs owner) could let organizational dysfunction set in and undermine Gruden's work BAM! Super Bowl win in his first year. (You only have to look at guys like Tanard Jackson, Kellen Winslow and Aquib Talib to get an idea of what I mean by organizational dysfunction.)

Hyping yet another former Raider coach who exceeded any realistic expectations from anyone besides Al himself (had to love him), was Tom Cable. Cable would bring a power running philosophy to the Eagles Offensive Line, which would be easily adaptable to LeSean McCoy's cutback style. Add to DJax and Maclin on the outside, a beat-you-to-hell run game between the hash marks and you could REALLY have something there.

My last "suggestion" would be Mike Martz. His wide open style would suit the players already on the roster, and McCoy would be the best back he had to work with since Marshall Faulk.

If we do lose Reid, why not give the fans something that feels different, but not at the expense of doing something smart.

  • If the Eagles do unfortunately have to fire Reid I hope they do not retread a coach from the past. I most certainly hope they stay clear of anything Raider connected. I like Gruden, but the guy will eliminate his young talent for old guys. No thanks considering the voids of talent he left in both Oakland and Tampa. No I think the Eagles should do what has gotten them where they are. Go and get the guy others may not know about, but has a plan to lead this team. That process brought us Ray Rhodes, but it also brought us Andy Reid so it couldn't have been all that bas. As far as the "doom" comment goes.... Clearly I was discussing it dooming him as the Eagles HC and not overall. Andy will be fine and will land on his feet, but once he leaves he is no longer a concern of mine. Meaning I wont suddenly become a fan of some other team, because I care about the Eagles and no one else.
  • Then act like it.
  • I do. After all I've never called for boycotts or rooting for any other team unless rooting for that team helps the Eagles.
  • I did call for a boycott didn't I? Over what? The Eagles not "meeting my expectations"? Was it over "not accepting mediocrity"? NOPE!

Fans here felt like management was tuning them out. So I suggested not going to the stadium until the F.O. decided to listen. I suggested watching from home, a friends, or places like Chickies and Pete's. I suggested starting new traditions. I still follow some of those. My ex will be coming over with her kids to watch a game with my family this season.

I said it and I stand behind it. I did it and I stand behind it.

And at NO time did I rip the team or suggest to fellow fans that should support them in spirit any less.

Dude, if you're gonna try to put me on blast, at least report the context and the details TOO. Just sayin'.
  • Lurie has already stated he would not go with a defensive minded coach after Ray Rhodes.
  • What I remember from the comments about Vick from Lurie they came after Vick was actually an Eagle. I'm just taking him at his word on it,but your right we really don't know. Although he may be disappointed with the fact Reid hasn't won him a championship I do feel he believes in the concept of offense winning championships otherwise I think he would have moved from Reid years ago.
  • THE RIGHTING IS ALL REDDING ON THE WALE,READ IS GOOD AS GONG!! AND ENTITY LANGUAGES.
  • Sucker for the record that stiff of a Coach in Dallas has a far better chance of getting fired than Reid.
  • what'cha talking bout willis!! Reid's tenure is mooch {shorter} his boss is a Cole man, he's burnt all his BRIDGES in pitifuldelphia that's a FACT OF LIFE!!
  • Reid will only lose his job if the Eagles somehow stink this year. That's certainly a possibility, but if I were a betting man I would put my money on the Cowboys stinking before the Eagles do. Now if the Cowboys have yet another mediocre season and Jerry's new Yes Man still somehow keeps his job, he must have some pictures or something on Jerry.
  • Since Reid will be the only current head coach to be fired, and if Bill Cowher stays retired there wont be a high demand on coaches next season, might as well keep Garrett. To find employment I hope Reid got the ole' Kodak polyroid ready. {say cheese}
  • Funny if Reid gets fired Jerry would can his clown coach so fast he actually might bounce out the stadium.
  • Sorry I don't get the love fest for Cowher from anyone. All those years and all of that talent with just one championship as a result. I don't get the obsession for the guy.
  • I agree. I would rather keep Reid than to get Cowher. I never really liked the coaches who returned after leaving the game or retread coaches in general. The only true successful one I can remember was Dick Vermeil, and I think his success could mostly be attributed to Mike Martz's offense.
  • The NFL Network is weighing in on firing Reid:
