I'll tell you why DJax won't be back

So what have we learned? Chad Hall was brought off the practice squad so the coaches could evaluate if he could replace DJax as a punt returner. This season at least Hall outperformed DJax. Hall is hungry for an NFL life, DJax wants more money. DISADVANTAGE: DJax

The team also brought over Steve Smith to see if he could replace DJax at WR. It proved disastrous as Smith was exposed as having most of his talent in Eli Manning's arm. But a funny thing happened on Jeremy Maclin's way to the trainer. Riley Cooper was able to get some play and led the team in yards per catch with 19.7. That's nearly 20 a pop. DJax type numbers, no? DISADVANTAGE: DJax

My point is negotiations are all about Advantage/Disadvantage. DJax wants something, but he lacks the leverage to get it from the Eagles, since they already have two guys to replace him on the roster. Some of you may disagree with that assessment, but it'll certainly be thrown in the face of DJax's agent. Some team will write DJax a blank check, it just won't be this team. DJax has no leverage in negotiating with the Eagles. Some team like Cleveland? Sure. Eagles? Nope.

Get ready to buy another jersey. DJax is as gone as Dawkins.

Remember, the genius told you first.

  • See this is looking at it as a business decision. It's a question of "Is the commodity worth the price?" That's how Lurie is going to evaluate this one. It's the same model that keeps Reid here despite ZERO Super Bowls.

But fans are so emotionally attached to the plays he made they can't fathom that there could be another way to move the offense.

I like what you said about Coop. We have him under a small contract until 2014 I think; so if De$ean walks, Coop may get a loooong look to evaluate his future here.

Regardless of how this turns out the eagles can't lose.
  • I agree with you that it is based on business financial decision. But Jackson has alot of fans and a move now to rid themselves of a young star wont sit well with fans. The excitement meter goes from bad to worse with release of Jackson. The Eagles have played this card wrong to many times. He needs to be signed or you will see an negative effect on the team worse than this season.
  • I'm a cooper supporter thick and thin, that man plays like he WANTS to be a superstar
  • whatever you say
  • You're also Eazyeagle and Pissondallas too. I would accuse you of being 20Dawk4life but nobody is that stupid. There's only one Dawk.
  • It all comes down to how much he asks for. Jackson is a very good receiver, but he is not worth elite money because of the drops, dumb penalties, and alligator arms. I hope he doesn't ask for elite money.
  • That is a lie
  • Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The OWNER wants DJax back. Obviously at the right price. And if DJax is going to squabble over top dollar he's just going to get franchised tagged. So either way, DJax stays (even though he could be traded if we sign one of the other FA WR's).
  • I say we franchise him.
  • anyone that tries to say cooper is as good as desean loses all respect. cooper is huge and doesnt know how to use his size. desean knows how to use his ability to the max and goes out and performs. he has had games where he hasnt showed up on the stat sheet but he also has safeties playing 20 yards deep atleast. he opens up the offense for everyone u cant deny it, plus u need two maye 3 other WR to replace just him. thats taking up roster spots we can use on defense, maybe more LBs. and hall didnt show anything as a returner plus punters dont punt to desean, incase u dont know that helps. desean is a playmaker u dont get rid of playmakers, sorry romo not gonna happen
  • im with you dawk.
  • I agree.
  • SO am I to understand you would rather have Chad Hall and Steve Smith over Desean Jackson!?!?!
  • One thing is certain. Jackson's replacement is on this roster. There is no chance they would sign a free agent. Besides most of the guys who will be free most likely will be either franchised or resigned by their teams. Starting for your Philadelphia Eagles...... Riley Cooper. Is this what you really want?
  • pleaz no no. Ill be on a serious boycott including watching games if Jackson is gone. Im done being snookered by this dishonest regime.
  • Look at what the people seem to want Wood. The people want to get rid of a 25 year old probowl player and replace him with two stiffs. Whatever is going on it seems that the Eagles have already convinced people this is somehow better.
  • Easy I'm with you i would keep him. pay the man
  • I disagree with that comment Eazy. Who else has stated to let him walk except for flip and Eugenious (and who cares what a self proclaimed genious has to say). By the way here is some food for thought. Do you remember a certain Vick lover on here who drove us all crazy with his blind love for the Eagles quarterback? He also wanted Jackson gone and thought that Cooper would step up last year and be the Eagles big play receiver by the end of the 2010 season. I heard someone on WIP proclaiming his hate of Jackson and how Cooper could step into the role. I told this barker that I heard someone with his same concerns and opinions on WIP and jokingly asked if it was him and lo and behold he admitted it was and said that he called in as...EUGENE. Coincidence...maybe, you decide.

Look, there may be some concerns about giving Jackson Fitzgerald money but I think most barkers (and fans outside this site) want to see them come to an agreement or at the very least see the Eagles franchise Jackson.
  • yea im with u green. i forgot about eugene being suckavickoff/romorules(probably is). but ffrom what i remember hearing from jackson himself not other people was a congrats to fitz then admiting he shouldnt be paid the same as him that fitz does more. i remember him saying it not other people so i dont get why people thik he wants fitz money. no one knows wht has been offered or not. i think everyone needs to just calm down and let it play out cause no matter what we say it isnt gonna change anything. at most we should just give our opinion on what we think should happen not what has or anything like that
  • We absolutely don't know what has been offered or what Jackson has been asking for 20dawk and I continously tell hollywood that when he gets all worked up that the Eagles haven't resigned him yet. So many of us on here like to type like we know more than the pros who are making the big money but...well you know where I'm going. Eugenius is far from a genius...just another barker with his opinions that don't really mean **** when the season rolls around...just like the rest of us.
  • WOW! I really got up under someone's panties, didn't I?
  • Not exacttly "genius". Just telling it like it is. Something fishy about a barker who takes shots at other Eagles fans with his first comments and articles when joining this website (I remember your comments earlier this season). I've seen it before.
Maybe your adulation for yourself would have went over a bit smoother if you weren't calling for the Eagles to improve their roster by letting Jackson walk and replacing him with Cooper and Hall. I can understand a free agent signing and not taking a possible step back but Cooper and Hall are HARDLY guarantees. I'm not thrilled with how Jackson reacted to this year but he is a talent and a threat and I have yet to hear either word be associted with Cooper or Hall. A genius certainly could have come up with a better solution.
  • Yeah my statement was to get people fired up. I made the thread on Jackson's numbers so I know what people wrote. I don't get the mentality of some. Only a moron would ever think Chad Hall and Riley Cooper are better than Jackson. Not a genius....A MORON!!!!
  • Serious boycott compared to what...your not so serious one? LOL.
  • Right now its just merchandise and live games. Next its all eagle activity.
  • Are you on the rag? I simply stated that STATISTICALLY Hall and Cooper BOTH outplayed DJax this year.

Maybe if he were playing instead of pouting, he'd have made his point with how valuable he is, but instead even national analysts are talking about his missed opportunity to prove himself.

Having bounced around here I see you look for every chance you get to defend this glorified track star. Pretty easy to play tough Tony with someone else's money when you don't have to worry about the product.

But what else can I expect. YOU aren't a genius.
  • ur dumb as hell if u think the stat sheet should determine what a player is worth. i say it for every single player go out and watch the game. plus a WR who is the 4th or 5th guy should have a huge YPC average. that means he is seeing the 4th or 5th best cover guy on defense and when he was starting he wasnt good and wasnt seeing doubles or having coverage rolled his way to prevent him no defense cares about cooper or hall. f*ck ur stats watch a game read a defense then go watch some game tape
  • You have some phucked up stats if you think a guy who was on the practice squad for most of the season and a guy who caught on touchdown statistically outplayed Jackson. I may not be a genius, but I KNOW YOU AREN'T ONE.
  • You truly are a genious Eugenious!
  • Desean Jackson: 58 Rec 961 YDS 4 TDs 7 rush 49yds
    Chad Hall: 3 Rec 21YDs 1 TD 3 Rush 13yds
    Riley Cooper: 16 Rec 315Yds 1 TD 0 0
    ________________________________________________________________
    Cooper/Hall 19 REC 336 2 TD 3 Rush 13 YDS
    Jacksons 58 Rec 961 4 TD 7 Rush 49 YDS
Just curious..... In what public school Magnet program did they tell you that "statistically" the Cooper/Hall combo is better than Jackson so I know to NEVER SEND MY CHILDREN THERE.
  • If you were literate you'd see what I was talking about IN THE ARTICLE. Funny how you IGNORED the punt returns which was what I wrote about, and OMITTED the ypc statistic that I wrote about.

Have to be selective with history to make your hero look good I guess. Idiot.
  • You don't have children Eazyeaglez. Cowboy up tomorrow and go look for work.
  • Don't talk about my children Rupaul. If you want to we can literally meet up and you can talk about my children to my face. We'll see what that gets you.
  • Easy we don't need another Cowboy Fan getting their a$$ kicked how come you never here the Eagles fans getting their a$$es kick because they are loser fans like Romoblows that's why. When romo was a kid he was the last kid picked in a pick up games nobody wants the kid with the holding the flowers lmao
  • Nobody respects you Eazyeagle and that's why nobody backs you up anymore except your Pissondallas id. You truly are an embarrassment. Tough day on the computer again I see. What a joke.
  • WRONG AGAIN!!! I respect EZ. We may not always agree, but I respect him as a poster here. He actually is a fan of the CURRENT version of his team, not the 1995 edition.
  • Anyone that roots for Raiders over eagles and thinks Cooper is better than Jackson needs their head examined. Birdflipper to the examination room! We have an emergency!
  • THEY'RE ALL RIGHT! YOU DON'T EVER SAY ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT THE EAGLES! SO NOW THAT YOU'RE DONE BEING SNOOKERED, ARE YOU GOING TO ROOT FOR THE REDSKINS OR THE GIANTS. WITH FANS LIKE YOU WHO NEEDS JERRY JONES?
  • Flip! Be nice.
  • You know what's REALLY crazy? Constantly tearing down something you claim to love.
I've only been in and out on here, but every time I come back it seems you are still perceived as some sort of a joke.
Romorules has an excuse, at least SHE'S a mental case. You on the other hand are just an IDIOT!
  • Although I don't necessarily agree with your egotistical views you certainly do have a couple of barkers pegged on here!
  • Hollywood is another one to ignore.
  • I also respect Eazy and MOST of the barkers (and their opinions) on this site.
