LEONARD WEAVER'S COMEBACK.
AFTER watching Leonard Weaver's Skype interveiw, I hope he can come back from his injury. On another team.
In the interveiw he said a few times that sometimes he wants to be back in the league and sometimes he doesn't. I would rather that this team only included gys who were hungry to play in this league. When you aren't hungry, you don't push yourself or the guys around you.
I LOVED the Weaver signing. While never a true power runner, he could bring a load, and break a run, and catch the ball, AND block. But if his heart isn't in it, I would rather he give 50%-75% to some other team and have the Eagles move onto a guy who'll give 80% to 100%.

I was there in the front row when he got that nasty ACL injury. Believe me. It hurt just watching it.

i didnt see the interview but i imagine the reason he said sometimes he doesnt want to be back in the league is because he is scared of the injury. if he comes back for another team n makes it through one season uninjured then i think he will be back to wanting to play 100% of the time. he loves the game thats why he made it to the nfl n earned the pay day he got from the birds. i would take him back on the birds if we r gonna use him like we used schmitt this year, a very small amount. he could get his legs back under him and maybe return to pro bowl form in a year or two, he should know the system still considering ritchie claims he does, we hardly use a FB. if he comes back he could be the power runner we all want if he gets over the psychological issue im assuming he has. i would bring him back if they are not gonna bring back schmitt, who i think can do the same as weaver just not as good with the ball.

Funny how the Eagles did not "honor the contract", but this seems okay to you. It seems like you have a double standard in this issue.
-
They did honor the contract. The NFL Injury Settelment clause is part and parcel of EVERY NFL contract. Under CBA rules the player is entitled to 50% of his salary for the year following his injury. If he negotiated a guarantee then he gets the ENTIRE guaranteed amount over the life of the guarantee period.
Notice that Weaver NEVER took the Eagles to court? Where were you when all this was discussed in the 90's when Jeff Sydner's knee cap got forced halfway up his thigh? All anybody talked about was that he'd never walk again and how he was going to support his kid.
Mike Utley. Dennis Byrd. The Bill's TE that can walk because the team doc gave him an icy saline injection or something similar? You thought the NFL just turned these guys into the street after these injuries?
C'mon guy. If you want to have this discussion with ME, you need to be a better student of this game, because it's practically my third child. -
The Eagle released him. They didn't even tell him the released him. That's embarrassing. Not only that are you seriously trying to imply the Eagles have honored all contracts they have signed? If you are maybe you aren't watching your third child as much as you think. Oh and wouldn't the Eagles be like a 4th child considering you are a Raiders fan.
-
I said this GAME, not this team. The NFL is bigger than the Eagles.
And OF COURSE they released him, you think he was going to stay on the active roster, or go on IR? His knee BLEW UP. You can't get the injury settlement WITHOUT being released. But they should have told him FIRST. We all would want at least that courtesy.
Graham and Allen both had knee injuries and were back the following season. Weaver? Nope. His injury was called career-ending when it happened. It was almost as bad as the Napoleon McCallum injury years back. I almost threw up over that one. McCallum never played another down. Weaver's injury was nowhere near as grotesque but it had all the ear-marks of "never being NFL caliber again".
If he can do it, Yay! It raises the bar for what people can expect of medical science and is a reason for even those who aren't pro athletes to have hope after such an injury. -
that's a hard come back,he blew acl and ligament in that thing--bone on bone---
