ME AND ANDY AIN'T WORRIED.
HERE is an excerpt from Andy Reid talking about his Defense:
"We missed some tackles. There were some gaps that we were supposed to close and we didn’t close. This game comes back down to that. It’s blocking and tackling. How do you get off the block from a defensive standpoint, and then how do you make that tackle," Reid said. "You’ve got to make sure you put yourself in the right position, take the right angles. Those are things that we can correct. The talent’s there, we’ve just got to make sure that we’re getting the fundamental work down."
Gaps. Tackling. Positioning. Angles.
"Those are things we can correct. The talent's here."
Sounds to me that Reid and I are in lockstep about what is important, and what ails this team. (Even if he was of my mindset on how to quickly resolve these problems, he would NEVER say it publicly.)
Relax. We're going to be fine.
-
Seems like I heard this broken record before.
-
Unlike a lie, truth never needs to change it's story.
-
team work echo echo echo
-
Loyalty and patience.
-
Sometimes you have to know when a guy isn't going to get the job done. By the way where was your loyalty and patience for Kolb, and Sean McDermott? I guess they don't count, because you say so?
-
Loyalty and patience for the TEAM! While I loved my Grandfather, I did not love his cancer.
I could tell that McDermott was doomed to hold the team back, by his not being able to add anything of his OWN to what he inherited from JJ. He'd been a Defensive assistant for years under JJ himself and when his turn came, he could add nothing new.
JJ's genius was in making adjustments to his monster, not just sending 7 or 8 guys at a time. Any idiot could send 7 or 8 guys all the time. Even with experience and a full season in charge, McDermott didn't get this. Still doesn't actually (He's the DC in Carolina. How IS that working out for them?)
Before you start in on Juan, he didn't come in trying to continue a system he didn't understand. He was HANDED a system he didn't understand. (I still don't like that system as it has produced erratic results among teams that have used it(Titans. Lions, Eagles), with 0 deep playoff runs. It is to Defense what the Run-and-Shoot was to Offense. Scary concept with no real success stories.)
Me and the Eagles organization understand that dog that was trained to be a fighter, probably won't fetch well at first. It takes TIME to re-acclimate him. They have the loyalty and patience to wait. And so do I. I didn't like the move when they made it. but if you're going to do start a project FINISH the project. Finish what you start!
When Kevin Kolb was named the starter I put up a post saying we need to get behind him as the starter.(I just tried to get it, but YB won't let me go past 6 pages and I post a LOT!)
When he was GIVEN the job, he'd done nothing to signal that he was ready to lead an NFL franchise. Today he is battling John Skelton (who was already a Cardinal when they traded for Kolb) to keep the second starting job that he (Kolb) was GIVEN.
So they count, and they WERE counted. As the quote from the movie says "You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting." They had their day. And on we move. -
Mcdermott's defense in Philly was the 12th ranked defense in both of his seasons in Philly. Juan's defense is CLEARLY MORE TALENTED THAN ANYTHING SEAN HAD TO WORK WITH AND HE ONLY GAINED TWO SLOTS. Stop making excuses for the guy. he's in over his head running a system he has no clue how to run and his indecisiveness is only going to hurt the team in the long run. How does you genius Jan call a base 4-3 alignment on short yardage when the Steelers offense sends out a one back, one receiver, and three tight end set?? The players on the field were looking to the sidelines for answers. The coordinator had none. Any IDIOT WOULD KNOW THAT DEFENSE WOULDN'T WORK IN THAT SITUATION.
-
Well I guess you should buckle in for your 0-16 season. Good thing you see it coming so you won't be surprised.
Better yet when they're 0-16, 1-15, 2-14, (or however far you think they'll slide), you can come on here and pound your chest about how you knew the team you gave 16 weeks of your life to, tanked, just like you expected it to; and how I'm an idiot for backing them.
Then Lurie won't fire Reid; Reid won't fire Castillo; and you get to do it all over again next year.
-
You clearly don't get me. Do you think I want to be right?
No what I want is change. Change is good. This team can't keep doing the same old crap and suddenly think everything will just work out. If they just swallowed their pride,
hired Spaggs, and let him coach the defense his way I don't think we would be sitting here discussing how Juan
suddenly created a defense that's incomprehensible for
defensive players to learn. Let me be clear. NOTHING
WOULD PLEASE ME MORE THAN TO BE ABSOLUTELY WRONG ABOUT
WHAT THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES ARE DOING. I never once
wrote what I think the Eagles will do next season, but we
are in total disagreement on what will happen if they do
go 0-16 or have a losing record as a whole. Reid will be fired if that happens and he should be. If you disagree with that then that's sad. We might has well kept Kotite all these years. I didn't know you kept your job in life no matter how long you keep screwing it up. -
You didn't see the game and I did. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong, and it was very reminiscent of what made that team 8-8. Nnamdi was a lost player. Jarrett looked confused. The line still got to the quarterback, but the linebackers were still ineffective against the run. Still bad penalties. Truth is the only guys who looked good were the rookies. That's not a good thing.
-
"Everything that could go wrong did go wrong" This is an actual quote from EZ.
We were down all of 13-0 at the half. You've seen worse.
Our D-line did not identify gap control vs. the run. In fact, Google this line (play the run on the way to the quarterback). It was even stated during the game. Our DT's (Dixon and Landri) were in a rush first mindset. (Probably in an effort to impress.) It's simple mental error.
The O-line should have been better. I'm going to reserve judgement on Watkins because although I still don't like the pick, I think maybe he can get a lot better. I lack that same confidence in Kelce.
The LB's looked okay considering that they had O-linemen on them during so many running plays. The Secondary looked VERY vanilla, and I doubt that Allen makes the same error Jarrett made on that "game of catch" TD. In fact it's too easy to picture Allen undercutting that pass. If you see a replay you'll see what I mean.
No worries. -
"We were down all of 13-0 at the half. You've seen worse."
When the defense give up a 9 minute drive to the first team, giving up multiple third and long conversions on that drive it concerns me. When the back ups come in and our same first string defense gives up big rush yards, a stupid penalty, and a wide open touchdown it concerns me. When the SAME PEOPLE who watched the SAME PROBLEMS occur numerous time last season and completely failed to fix the problem time and time again suddenly tell me they will fix the problems I don't believe them. They have to prove it to me.
Dixon looked slow out there and looked barely in shape. (Problem). Landry made the best play of all the defensive tackles who played on a running back so I'm not going to blame him. Nor am I going to blame the linebackers. I blame the coordinator and his bad scheme that for some reason guys who been playing football since they were just out of diapers suddenly is like learning Greek to them. Seriously think about what you are typing. Are you really expecting me to believe and offensive coordinators defense is so complex a guy like Nnamdi who has been playing defense all his life has no concept on how to grasp it? Tell me you aren't that foolish, because if you are then I got one heck of a deal on a star to sell you. -
One more thing regarding Juan and Sean who in my opinion BOTH SUCK. Sean went to Carolina and inherited the 18th ranked defense of 2-14 team who just allowed their best defensive player to just walk out the building and IMPROVED THEM STATISTICALLY TWO SLOTS IN OVERALL DEFENSE while the team improved 4 victories. Juan inherited a vastly improved PLAYOFF DEFENSE (Macho Harris anyone) and proceeded to give up the most 4th quarter comebacks in NFL history, ONLY GAIN 2 SLOTS IN TOTAL DEFENSE, AND THE TEAM OVERALL NOT ONLY MISSED THE PLAYOFFS, BUT LOST 2 GAMES MORE THAN THE DID THE SEASON PRIOR. I don't know about you, but in my opinion the Edge goes to McDermott. He sucks too, but clearly not as much as Juan.
-
Not to get too involved in your argument, Eazy but you know that it wasn't just the defense that hurt the Eagles last year. Turnovers killed them. Honestly, not many liked the Castillo move last year but Castillo it is and no matter how much you scream for his head...he's the defensive coordinator for the 2012 season. I get that you aren't happy and it certainly wasn't Reid's finest hour when he hired him and flip has acknowledged that...nothing we can do about it.
-
I don't get where flip acknowledges there is nothing we can do about. With that being the case I don't feel that is entirely true. If the defense is giving up 4th quarter leads next year do you know what we do? We boo. If their are still making poor decisions in the Red Zone with the ball, then we boo. We write about our displeasure with what the coaching staff and the players are doing. We call radio stations and do the same. We demand change as both fans and customers. We don't just say there is nothing we can do and accept mediocrity as the "Gold Standard." One thing is certain Green. Acting like the problem doesn't exist when it clearly does is NOT the answer.
-
I meant that flip acknowledged he didn't like the hiring of Castillo. The problems you address certainly seem to exist and probably do and if you want to boo, go ahead...if you want to complain, don't let me stop you. My point is exactly what I stated... Castillo is and barring a disastrous season (shouldn't happen)will still be the defensive coordinator week 17. NOTHING you do is going to change that! I am going to hope he improves game to game and week to week instead of calling for something I KNOW isn't going to happen, but that is me. I said before the McNabb trade I would root him on if he was the Eagle's quarterback and I meant it, I also typed the same thing when Vick took the job from Kolb and am still hoping he will show me that my concerns about him are all for naught...I choose to do the same for the Eagles coaches.
-
Hey if a miracle happens and somehow guys who have been playing defense since they were in diapers suddenly figure out this super complex defense created by an offensive line coach I will be cheering with the best of them. I HOPE that is the case, but I wont be assuming that will just happen, because I want it to happen. They need to SHOW ME.
-
Green I will go further. Do you know why Flyer fans rarely ever complain? It's certainly not because they have won championships, because they haven't since the 70s. The reason why Flyer fans don't complain is because they know no matter what happens Ed Snyder is going to do everything in his power to try and win. That means he's going to spend the money, change the players, change the coach, make the big trade, and whatever else it takes to try and win the Championship. Meanwhile the Eagles are suckering people into thinking that somehow Riley Cooper's "potential" somehow makes the Eagles a Championship contender. Do you know who on the Flyers had potential? JVR, and they just shipped him out of town in order to improve their soft defense from last season. Now you could argue they haven't had the results, but the Flyers have been to far more championship series since their existence than the Eagles have been to super bowls in that same time span.
-
I'm a bit worried, flip. Saw a few nice things on Thursday night but also saw too much bad to feel the Eagles will be fine...and please don't preach to me about loyalty. I'll be in front of the TV and watching every game and rooting my heart out...but I'm not going to have blind faith that they are going to be just fine when they need to be. Tried that last year and rooted the Eagles to a 4-8 record after 12 games. The pass rush will be fine (should be incredible actually) especially when taking into consideration that Babin and Cole didn't play but the secondary had moments of absolute cluelessness and the tackling needs a lot of work. I guess I should take some solace in the fact that Jarrett (I have been rooting for him but he just doesn't look anything close to being ready) won't be on the field as much with Allen back but the key piece to that secondary looks lost out there. Did Asomugha play any zone in Oakland because he seems so uncertain with his responsibilities after releasing his receiver? I'm sure he did but am not sure why it doesn't seem to be working for him here in Philly. I know that Vick didn't have much time to shine but I wasn't thrilled with what I saw from him. He wasn't getting the ball out quickly and I don't know who we should blame that on (play calling?) but when he was on fire in 2010 that is what made him so dangerous. He seemed to make all the right reads and again, I am not going to be quick to judgement but it is concerning that even with pressure Rothlisberger made some big plays yet one of the more mobile quarterbacks in the NFL did nothing. Obviously getting Maclin and Celek back will go a long way but I would like to see Vick drop back and decisively throw the ball. The injuries also concern me although every day it seems like some of the guys are getting back...who knows maybe the coaching staff is pushing some of the players who aren't that banged up back after Thursday night's game.
I liked what I saw in the return game, definitely some surprises in other areas...If Hunt keeps playing as well as he did, the Eagles obviosly have to give him a roster spot, Graham looked good, Kendricks was around the ball the whole time he was out there (hopefully we will see more from Ryans soon), Cedric Thorton may make the roster(until at least Patterson comes back), Foles looked very good with what he was given but we have to realize who he was playing against...still he made the plays that were there. Hopefully he continues to show us more good than bad! -
Green your concerns aren't valid and only mean you are disloyal to the Eagles (implied by the Raiders fan) Too bad Flip is on an island here, because unlike Flip Andy Reid is concerned. This team has a lot of problems that they need to fix soon. They can show improvement on the 20th. They have plenty of time to get there, but considering they haven't up to this point....
-
I don't see it that way at all, Eazy. There is only one fan on here whose Eagle loyalty I question and that is because he lies out of his teeth (I guess I should type fingers) and makes crap up to try to make the Eagles past, present and future seem and look bleak. Having concerns and pointing out problems has nothing to do with loyalty and every team's fans go overboard at times (some of them anyway) when it comes to these concerns just like some do when it comes to thinking their team is unstoppable. When it comes down to it all we can do is sit back and hope for the best. That doesn't mean we can't discuss what we like about the team and also what we see that makes us worried. Isn't that really what this site is all about?
-
You see Green that person didn't write on this post so it's clearly not about that person.
-
I know it isn't about him and if I'm right I don't think he can post on this thread. I saw your "battles" with flip since Thursday and would guess this post is directed at you. You have your concerns and although I don't agree with all of them I certainly wouldn't question your loyalty. I've seen enough of what you post to know that you are a diehard fan...nothing wrong with having questions...as long as it isn't only the negatives you constantly bring up (notice how I had to throw in a waiver for my buddy?).
-
I generally don't like the "loyalties" slant, but if
a guy who is supposedly a die hard fan for two teams is going to question mine then I gotta go down that path. I want the Eagles to fix their problems and get better, not just ignore them. How does ignoring the problem make it better or somehow make you a great fan? -
Nnamdi did play a little zone in Oakland. Under Al Davis, the DC was to play "single safety high", which almost forces the CB's into man coverage most of the time.
The thing to remember about Nnamdi was that he also played on the QB's blindside, so generally his man wasn't the first read. Add this to his size and press style of play to DISRUPT timing and QB's simply didn't challenge him much.
Against Nnamdi QB's can't simply 1-2-3 it the way they can in practice. QB's have to actually take a second to look at at what's happening with that coverage over there, and THAT gives the rush time to get home.
Nnamdi is a DISRUPTOR. That's why I was dancing through my house when we got him. He will not get you 6,7,8 picks a year. Not his game. He prevents attempts to his side. H makes QB's hold the ball a little longer than they normally would. -
I know his background flip (for the most part) and was also thrilled when the Eagles picked him up and I generally give players plenty of time before I call for changes (and I am NOT calling for one here) but I honestly haven't seen too much disrupting on Asomugha's part either. Maybe it's just the media hanging on every negative or maybe it's me expecting one of the best corners in the NFL to quickly step in and show me what all the hype is about (maybe a little of both) but I see missed bumps and early releases and mostly the missed tackles although I have seen him come up a few times and pop a receiver or running back. Just need to see more (SOON!) from one of the top corners in the league (hope he hangs onto that title). I want to see a shutdown corner...shut down his receiver. If Castillo refuses to allow Asomugha to do what he does best (and what they are paying him all that money for) than Eazy is definitely onto something.
-
I'm in agreement with you here. Whatever the Eagles are doing with Nnamdi they need to stop it, because frankly he can't be this bad! I don't care if he doesn't get one pick all season, but I do care if Victor Cruz is scorching him with 4 catches 144 yards and 2 touchdowns. Don't tell me it's the safeties fault. If Nnamdi needs safety help then what the heck are they paying him so much money for?
-
I agree with something you typed earlier on that touchdown between Asomugha and Jarrett. If that touchdown was Jarrett's fault the defense that was called was pitiful. As soon as Asomugha released his receiver he was WIDE open. There was no one on the outside for Asomugha to cover...he couldn't have trailed the receiver a step or two?
-
He could have just jammed the guy to at least give Jarrett a chance. He did nothing. I specifically watched Nnamdi on several plays. I saw how his indecisiveness hurt the players around him. I seriously think they are putting too much on his plate. Just let the guy man up, press and shut his guy down. That's all he needs to do. Instead they had him running all over the field in and out of zones. The guy looked lost.
-
No worries. It will all be fixed, because Bflip says so!

Before you question my loyalties again ask yourself this question first. If the Eagles faced the Raiders who do you want to win, because I know I would want the Eagles to beat the hell out of the Raiders and any other team unless somehow losing benefits my team.
-
I didn't question your loyalty. I merely stated mine.
Remember that whole bit about more civility in the Yard? The post I put up this week "IT SHOULDN'T TAKE A DEATH"? I meant those.
I'm banging my teams pot, because they are my team 16-0 or 0-16. When they fail I want the CAUSE(S) removed. I don't get down on them as a team or as an organization.
If I was so diametrically opposed to the values of this team/organization, there is no law that says I have to support it. I am free to come, go, add or subtract as as I please.
And who I root for has a lot to do with what time of year it is and what's at stake. Recently I've rooted more for the Eagles because they actually are in playoff hunts.
With the Raiders holding onto lunch longer than coaches this last decade, there was much stagnation. While RaiderNation still LOVES Al Davis, no one doubted it would take his death or an AMAZING stroke of luck before this team was good (let alone, great) again. His vision of X's and O's was just too antiquated.
-
You still don't understand... Don't you realize that openly supporting mediocrity actually means you approve of it? Maybe it's me, but if the Eagles are 0-16, I'm most certainly not happy about. I most certainly am not going to be banging pots for it, and I'm definitely wont be leading the cheer to bring back the coaching staff who let it happen. Gamedays are for cheering and the Eagles already have cheerleaders. The rest of the time is for analysis and I refuse to ignore flaws that could cost the Eagles games. Nor will I believe as a fan I have no say and that I should accept mediocrity. I can't help the fact I care too much for this team to see them perform poorly, but if you go revel in their failures.... Well to each his own.
-
Why don't you take a look at this. Please be sure to read some of the comments of what you believe non loyal fans think. They aren't non loyal by the way. They just aren't gullible and stupid.
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inq-eagles/165903036.html -
I don't agree with the whole "muscle memory" bit, but the Eagles coaches aren't known for singling out a guy or throwing them under buses.
This was a Reid-like mea culpa. The whole "I gotta work harder" blah blah that we've become accustomed to. I honestly don't see why this makes anyone angry. They've been doing this for 14 years now. And if this is any indication:
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inq-eagles/Reids-agent-Lurie-said-Andys-coach-as-long-as-Im-owner.html
then Eagles fans are in for a LOT more of what they claim to hate EVERY YEAR.
Seems gullible and stupid to root for (and often pay a lot to see) something you hate or that only makes you angry. -
Not only did you question my loyalty, you lumped me in with Hollywood. Can anyone's loyalties be any more questionable than his?
-
I didn't question your loyalty, but I do lump you in with Hollywood.
You both claim to be Eagles fans but you both come on here solely to rail against the team.
You hate the owner who isn't selling.
You hate coach who won't be fired.
You hate the DC.
You hate the OC's play selection.
You don't think we have a QB.
You think our talent is overrated.
I can't recall the last time you said anything GOOD about the Eagles. Either of you. The big difference between you, is that you seem capable of civility where Hollywood does not. -
You are completely off base on all of this. First I don't hate anyone. I never once said I don't like the owner quite the contrary. In fact on many occasions I have praised the owner for freeing us from Norman Braman (if there were someone I was close to hating it would be him). I don't hate Andy Reid. I believe he has passed his time in Philly and I think it's time for him to move on. Just like McNabb. You thought I was wrong on that one too, but I wasn't. I don't hate the defensive coordinator. We would actually have to have one to actually hate and not a O-Line coach pretending to be one. I never mentioned anything about the play selection. In fact while everyone else is screaming for big backs and more run plays I am the one who has praised the Eagles. I never mentioned we don't have a QB. I just want him to play better. I also never wrote the Eagles have over rated talent. In fact YOU THINK THEIR TALENT IS OVER RATED!
Let's start with the best back in the game. Shady is the best weapon on the Eagles, yet YOU WANT TO TAKE THE BALL OUT OF HIS HANDS AND GIVE IT TO ANOTHER BACK! You constantly rip their best receiver in Desean Jackson and you give him little respect despite what he does for this team. Yet you pump up a stiff like Riley Cooper who's done nothing in this league with your false stats about how great that bum was when Jackson was gone. You made ONE ARTICLE ABOUT HOW WE NEEDED TO SUPPORT KOLB, BUT I MADE COUNTLESS. You last post about our weapon in the Red Zone was about information I fed you. Forgive me for wanting my team to achieve greatness. I guess when you support multiple teams you just want to see them play. -
Since when did I say their talent was overrated? For the last 2 years the teams moves mirror things I write in my "THE 12" series. If anything they're getting me what I ask for.
And here the thing about the McCoy losing touches. He IS going to lose touches, to Dion Lewis. That's been stated. Most of us just want the back he shares with to DELIVER punishment not just absorb it.
And I am by no means the only Riley Cooper fan. There is nothing false about his averaging 80 yards a game over 3 starts last year.
(Source: http://www.nfl.com/player/rileycooper/497282/gamelogs?season=2011 )
I largely believe that DJax is in fact a one-trick pony; but he's an Eagle for the foreseeable, so I have to get behind him. And I will. -
Funny thing is between your multiple teams, your call for a boycott, your dislike for McCoy, and your penchant for never really answering a question, you and Hollywood could be clones. I remember a time when you and hollywood were almost inseparable on this site. At least Hollywood has a reason for supporting multiple teams. I mean he was born in Baltimore where his home town team left, he went to school in Philly, and then moved back home when they got a new team. You're no different than a Cowboys fan from Connecticut. I've never called for boycotts. There is no LOYALTY IN THAT ALL ALL. I most certainly call for a boycott over the loss of a player. Something else you and Hollywood have in common.
-
Who hates McCoy!? The guy's a beast! I just think they need to get him some a big back to split with, not another little back.
-
McCoy is a "beast"!?! You love his ability sooo much that you want the Eagles to give the ball to someone else????? Why do you think they need a "big back" if you believe he's their best Red Zone threat? By the way he is also the best short yardage back in the league. You can claim you figured that one out later too.
-
You do know that they're ALREADY taking carries away from McCoy, right?
You do know that he agrees with it, right?
(Source: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82b04feb/article/lesean-mccoy-ok-with-sharing-eagles-backfield-snaps )
I think if they do it it would make sense with a bigger back. Now you can keep arguing with ME over it, but know this: LeSean McCoy is already slated to lose carries, and it wasn't me who made that decision. -
There is a big difference between McCoy getting spelled some carries so he doesn't wear down during the season than getting a "big back" to take him out of critical situations like short yardage. After all that what a "big back" is for. The Eagles are fine with what they have and they certainly don't need a big back taking the ball from McCoy in critical situations.
-
Since stats are your reason for making out Riley Cooper as some type of talent even though his supposed great three games came because Jackson was taking away his double teams please take a look again where Jackson holds up against all those receivers who are supposedly better than he is. By the way I don't think the great Maclin will be on this lest like Jackson is. Of course you can do the research like I did to prove me wrong, but I doubt you will.
"Receptions Yards Touchdowns
1) L. Fitzgerald 1) L. Fitzgerald 1) L. Fitzgerald
2) B. Marshall 2) C. Johnson 2) M.Colston
3) W. Welker 3) D. Jackson 3) C.Johnson
4) A. Johnson 4) M.Colston 4) D. Bowe
5) M. Colston 5) B. Marshall 5) M. Austin
6) D. Bowe 6) A. Johnson 6) B. Marshall
7) C. Johnson 7) D. Bowe 7) R. Wayne
8) D. Jackson 8) W. Welker 8) D. Jackson
9) R. Wayne 9) M. Austin 9) A. Johnson
10) M.Austin 10) M. Wallace 10) V. Jackson
As you can see Desean ranks in the top 10 in every receiver category when you measure him against his peers some have considered a greater receiver than he is at the same point in their careers, Desean Jackson comes out favorably stacked up against them. He doesn’t stick out as much as Fitzgerald or Marcus Colston, but he holds his own against the “elite” group. As a runner, Jackson blows every one of these so called elite out of the water. I chose not to list a top 10 here as Jackson tops the list in every statistical category here. The bottom Line Is Jackson does match up to NFL’s elite receivers."
Again Jackson's rushing statistics blow out all of these other receivers. He's hardly a one trick pony. Now Riley Cooper on the other hand is a guy who is completely incapable of making a play without the help of an extremely talented receiver. Look no further than his stats in the Arizona game when Jackson was suspended and Maclin (again) goes down with an injury. No need to look up what he did, because you will see nothing but zeros. -
As far as this:
"You last post about our weapon in the Red Zone was about information I fed you"
What post are you talking about? The last post I put up regarding the Red Zone, you immediately refuted.
-
My refute wasn't his production. I was merely pointing out that he was already here and the Eagles were still poor in the red zone.
-
When Dimitri Patterson, Macho Harris, Juquay Parker, Brodrick Bunkley, Ellis Hobbs, and Ernie Simms are STARTERS in your defense and you still make the playoffs you had to be doing something right.
-
There's a real NFL game on TV tomorrow night fellas,a Mortal Lock the Boys will muster up more than 49 yards of total offense. With all the rule changing here's a thought,if a team fail to accumulate more than 50 yards at halftime, they forfeit the second half.
-
Seen things like this before sucker...when your Cowboys were 7-4 last year and leading the NFC East...then they lost a few games and you seemed to disappear. Keeping my fingers crossed that we'll see more of the same when it comes to your "Boys".
-
I remember him begging and pleading for people to accept his apologies back then too.
-
Sucker those bums couldn't even score a point on those Raider bums. Grass growing has more action.
-
A 3-0 win over the Raiders and you want to crow about the Cowboys?
At least the Eagles had a hard time with a Super Bowl caliber team. My Raiders are rebuilding and your precious Cowboys had all they could stand out there tonight. And you think your team will compete for the division?
Like I said before, Cowboys fans are a hoot! -
By season's end this topic should read: ME AND ANDY AIN'T WORKING. {MORTAL LOCK}
-
Flip you probably shouldn't be talking down about hollywood when you you wont even let him defend himself on your threads.
-
Hollywood says things that are flat out indefensible, (you read some of his comment on Garrett Reid), often just for spite or to "get a rise" out of people. Rarely does he even discuss football with any objectivity. I just block him and am done with the whole thing. It means I can't respond to things he says, but I think I'm better off that way.
If you look at my posts they don't feature a lot of silly personal attacks or back and forth over non-football idiocy. They just feature football talk. I like the level of civility that now exists in responses to my posts. Even when we don't agree.
No fake I.D. nonsense, or petty personal wars. Just what you come here for. Football. -
"LURIE RESPONSE
RE yesterday's Eagletarian post, in which Andy Reid's agent, Bob LaMonte, vigorously defended his client's record and deflected reporters' queries about a new Reid contract by declaring team chairman Jeffrey Lurie told him Andy would coach here as long as Lurie owns the team -- Lurie issued a statement in response:
"Bob is a great agent who we have an outstanding relationship with. As much respect as all of us have for Andy Reid, it is the nature of the profession that all coaches, executives and players are evaluated each year," Lurie said. "That's the way we have always operated. But our focus right now, and I know Andy feels the same way, is solely on the 2012 season."

This sure doesn't seem like an owner that will keep Andy Reid coach for life. Nor does it seem like the coach is guaranteed to be the head coach next season. By the way the coach being on the hot seat is a good thing. Nobody wants complacency in a position of power. A complacent leader equals the same type of followers. Maybe that's why the Eagles are having so much trouble with the basic fundamentals of football. If Andy isn't smart enough to worry then he will seal his own fate.

People have been hunting for his head for about 7 years now. Folks were SURE he was out after last year. Especially if he didn't fire Castillo.
BOTH men are still here.
Like I said: Nobody fires a coach who still fills a stadium to standing room only. NOBODY does that.
Fans run on passion, the Eagles run on logic. -
Don't believe for a moment Reid fills the stadium with back-to-back 8-8 seasons. By the way as a fan you really shouldn't care who the coach is as long as the coach is reaching the goal. To me (AS A FAN AND NOT AN OWNER) I want to the Eagles coaches focus to be winning Super Bowls and not putting fannies in the seats. Perhaps you get a cut from Lurie?

You are BENT on starting an argument with me. I have no desire to argue with a fellow fan. Especially when the cause of that argument is the rooting on of my team. I accept that you think the Eagles will do poorly, because they didn't do well last year, but I see no point in arguing over predictions.
-
I no expectations on this season at all. I believe the Eagles are talented enough to be a serious contender; however I am concerned about weak links that can jeopardize their chances, because some of those weak links are still in Philly. The defensive coordinator for one. Even though I don't believe problems for this team will disappear because you say so doesn't mean I am expecting the Eagles to do poorly.
-
As of THIS line I am done defending my enthusiasm for the Eagles. If any of you disagree with my thinking they'll have a good year, by all means, make plans to be miserable.
I am in a wonderful place in my life, and I am more interested in sharing my joy, than in "winning" any of the petty e-war nonsense I used to pride myself on being "good at".
Birdflipper done growed up y'all.

It's going to take a few more weeks before this team resembles the team everyone wants them to be.
Fact is, though they made progress at the end of last year, it was at the END of the year. They would of course lose a few guys and have to break in some new ones. And the holes they had as far as personnel (they needed to upgrade the LB position, Safety is still a question mark, and I still think they need a Center) still needed addressing.
All these things take time. Not just offseason time where you don't really compete, and not preseason (for the same reason). You need live fire to build a real backbone. Especially when half the team (the Defense) is run by a committee, led by a newbie.
It takes time.
(And the injury bug not biting TOO hard.)
Stay positive. Your team needs those vibes. -
Judging by recent events (Andy chewing out his lineman, and his boss not guaranteeing him a job)I think you're on an island with this one. Clearly Andy Reid is concerned about what his future and what this time will do. If he wasn't concerned Mike Kafka would still be an Eagle. I know you think ASSuming everything will be okay is somehow the key to success, being concerned is actually a good thing. Being concerned means Reid is going to take whatever steps necessary this season to ensure his players are busting their tails to win football games and not just ASSuming if they show up they will just win like last year. He had better, because if he just ASSumes he will have a job with the Eagles, he will have a rude awakening of reality.
