PRETTY GOOD (BUT NOT GREAT) DRAFT.

VERY solid Draft this year. Picked up the 2nd round pick we needed, and added some solid players through round 6.

At the top of the Draft we got a potential rookie starter at CB in D.J. Hayden, and OT Menelik Watson, I think can contribute right away at Guard for us. But if he's moved to Tackle he's probably a project.

The guts of the Draft had us grab a 3rd string QB in Tyler Wilson, and a LB named Sio Moore that is probably going to only be middle of the road throughout his career; but does enough already to be solid in the system we're said to be running.

At the bottom we got a pair of TE's in Nick Kasa, and Mychal Rivera. I'm not sure why we got 2 TE's unless we plan on releasing some of the 3 we already had in stock. We got ourselves a RB that earlier I felt rather "meh" about until I did some digging. VERY happy about the RB. VERY happy.

The last pick of the 6th and first pick pf the 7th (Stacy McGee and Brice Butler respectively), don't exactly leave me jumping for joy. A DT who can't get out of his own way, and a WR who never caught more than 24 balls in any year of his COLLEGE career. Seems like a wasted pick to me.

The LAST pick though! DE David Bass has my curiosity peaked. Usually scouting reports can give you negatives with the positives; but aside from being a DE/OLB tweener and coming from a smaller program, I can't find one. I don't get it, but he's worth a 7th round gamble.

  • FYI: Chip Kelly informed Albert Breer from the NFL Network that the Eagles will have an "open competition" for the starting quarterback position starting at OTAs. So in other words neither Foles nor Vick should feel they have a leg up in the competition. So much for that talk of Vick being named the starter before the draft. Hate to say I told you so..... Who am I kidding? I told you so.
  • Done arguing with you on this. But we'll see who starts.

With all the player bashing you've done over the players "talking" or proclaiming in the last couple years, I find it...I'll say ODD, that you seem so enamored with people "talking" now.
  • I don't bash players. I tell truths. If Vick starts that proves nothing other than he earned it. Which again would make me right.
  • the onlny player i can say i like is moore. i think our 7th round pick is just as good if not better than ur 1st so good luck. the rest of ur draft isnt impressive at all. dont know about the last guy. i wouldnt expect much out of anyone but moore.
  • I shouldn't put it as making ME right, rather it proves what Chip Kelly has been saying all along is true.
  • That's great and all, but the focus of this post isn't the Eagles.
  • It's on the EAGLES YARD.
  • So it is.

Look we've been over this before. Let's NOT repeat the same tired argument about me posting what I want, when, where and how I want. We both know how it ends. (Note the post).

Don't you have better things to do with your life than rehash the same boring subjects, and have the same tedious fights?
  • Then just don't cry about me doing the same.
  • hey atleast ur coach didnt just get guys that kicked his @ss in past years. we got good players but kelly went with the if u cant beat em join em approach.
  • That was a little weird wasn't it? Stranger still was how he didn't add a single guy from his offensive system.

The RB we got (Latavius Murray), gives us a between the tackles thumper who can break loose, and catch the ball. That gives us THREE big backs who can break it AND catch. In a simple one cut/power scheme it means we can keep the hits coming. It's deep, well-rounded and consistent. It's a run game that almost mirrors my personality. I HAVE TO like it.

I was a little shaky about Hayden but then I read up on it. I'm more worried about his ribs than his heart. I like the Kasa pick, but I STILL 2 days later can't wrap my head around the Rivera one. I feel that the WR was a nod to "tradition".
  • Did you "like" yourself??? Wow dude you are going off the deep end with a rapid decent.
  • Nope. That's not my "like". I have to admit, I am glad to see it though.
  • It's just the three of us, it wasn't me, now will the real liker please show up.
  • I can tell you that I did "like" your response 20.
  • Well just to make the point, I just "liked' it as Birdflipper. My guess is either 20 has miscounted or one of you is secretly a fan.
