Ranking The NFC East Running Backs.

Three of the four teams have solid starters while the Giants Running Game is an absolute mess right now. So much of what the Giants do is based off the run game and play action there is no wonder why they were struggling last season especially earlier in the season. Here are my divisional rankings.

#1 LeSean McCoy trending UP: Shady continues to improve every season. Many are already calling him the best back in the game. Some are favorably comparing him to the great Barry Sanders. As good as McCoy has been I can see him actually getting better. Last season there were too many times Shady danced rather than hit the hole. Next season if he becomes more physical at the point of attack his touchdowns should increase.

#2 Alfred Morris trending leveling: Morris thrived in the Option with RG3 the season prior, and despite the fact he was 4th in the league in rushing the feeling is he had a somewhat down season. His rush yards and touchdowns went down while his fumbling went up. Morris is going to have to get better at protecting the football. His style of play will always have him taking a lot of hits. One has to wonder how long he will hold up in the league. Despite being only 2 years in he’s the same age as McCoy.

#3 Demarco Murray trending UP: Murray had his best season as a pro, but two things could hold him back in his career. One is his he’s somewhat injury prone and the second is his coaching staff is one of the worst in the league. If he finally gets a coach willing to use him as more than just a decoy the question must be asked. Can his body hold up?

#4 Andre Brown trending Down: I have doubts this kid makes as the starter week one of the 2014 season, but he’s the last man standing in a bad bunch of running backs. He’s had his moments but for the most part he’s a guy who cannot stay healthy, can not be counted on for the long haul, and is the least talented of the young bunch of backs in the division. Until the Giants address this position (and many more) I can’t see them being major threats in the division for a few seasons.
