Still, Still, Still......

The Eagles in their "dress rehearsal" for the season still seem to be making the same old mistakes they have from the Andy Reid era. There still seems to be bad penalties at in opportune times that stall drives. There still seems to be bad turnovers. The Eagles are killing themselves with turnovers this preseason, by the way their turnover margin is awful. Look it up and see for yourself. You cannot win in the NFL if you are giving up points due to turnovers. The poor tackling and the long runs given up are still a problem. Speaking of turnovers the defense still rarely finds any of their own. The Eagles lack playmakers in their secondary. Maybe some of the defensive woes will improve once the players get used to playing in the 3-4 on a regular basis, but the offensive players have no excuse even with the new offense. Bryce Brown won't be playing if he's going to putting the ball on the turf. Both he and Polk have fumbled this preseason, but Brown's was just a spectacular failure, and despite all that he still holds the ball away from his body after he puts in on the ground for a touchback. He then denies he has a fumbling problem at all. Brown is only fooling himself with that one. NFL teams already saw the tape. They know how to knock it out of his hands considering he NEVER covers the ball up when engaging hitters. On a positive Brent Celek seems to be getting back to form. There were reports of him making a lot of drops in camp, but something seems to have pushed him to be a gamer. Perhaps it was the possibility of being cut. Still if the Eagles are claiming they want to compete this year like they are claiming, and they are going to be as good as they have been boasting (still), then they are going to have to shake off all of the negatives that made them a 4-12 football team. It wasn't just the injuries. The injuries were just an excuse. Go look up how many Packer players were injured during their Super Bowl season if you don't believe me.
