THE DRAFT I'M HOPING FOR
OKAY, I'd already put out my Final Wish List of players I 'd like to see. Now I'm putting out what I hope our haul for the year looks like.
(As of now (7:22 a.m.) Asante Samuel is still on the roster.)
1 DE - Nick Perry
2 DT - Alameda Ta'amu
2 LB - Nigel Bradham
3 QB - Russell Wilson
4 LB - Vontaze Burfict*
5 C/G- Quentin Saulsberry
6 HB - Bobby Rainey or Brandon Bolden
6 WR - T.J. Graham
6 CB - Josh Norman
*Being picked this low takes the risk out of the pick and gives him something to prove. Some boards even have him in the 6th or 7th now. If he's there in the 4th grab him.
-
From what I'm reading these days Burfict isn't going to be drafted. I may not be necessary to go that high.
-
Yeah I'm seeing 6, 7 and some coaches said they won't take him at all.
Thing is if he pans out to be what folks thought he could be last year a 4th is a steal. If not then he's Casey Matthews. I'd just hate to see the Redskins or Giants or Cowboys take him in the 6th and see that Ray Lewis comparison justified.
I just don't think I could bear it. -
Here's the link to that comparison:

Think back to early Jeremiah Trotter. Almost all of this was stuff said about him too. If Burfict never reaches "Ray Lewis" and can only manage "Jeremiah Trotter", I'm sold on that too!
And for a 4th rounder?

There's a report out saying he failed a drug test. Teams will stay away from that kid like he has the plague.

Amen to that. Cross him of my list up there. LOL!
It's one thing to have folks question how nasty you are, it's another thing to fail a drug test BEFORE THE DRAFT.
Have a toke in May if you must, but between December and April, you gotta be spotless. This kid has already thrown away millions and he hasn't made dollar one yet.
(smh) -
I think he may some mental issues. If he were a top 5 talent I think people would give him a shot, but he's done nothing to earn it. Never have I seen a guy free fall like this kid has.
-
That's pretty sad.
-
I wouldn't cry if the Eagles took Burfict here, but I think a roster wit h4 RB's on it helps us on Special Teams and makes us bullet proof vs injury. So Brandon Bolden wouldn't be a bad pick here.

Good eye!
There ARE a couple of reaches here, but Perry is a solid 1st rounder. Perry is what you'd get if Trent Cole was better run defender. He can hold the edge without having to play so wide. There are some bigger names, but for what we do here, this guy is the natural fit.
Both guys I have in the 2nd tend to grade 2-3 round, but if a guy fits your system you don't dither about his grade, you grab him before your competition does and you get stuck trying to "make a guy fit".
Wilson has a 3-4 grade on him but teams tend to panic when QB's start leaving the board. I doubt he see the 4th.
Everyone I have in the 6th has a 7th round grade, but until we traded Samuel, we didn't have a single 7th rounder. Rainey and Graham were not only down in-down out contributors, they also were solid return men.
Rainey catches AND pass protects as well as runs. Sift through the RB's and you won't find more than a couple (all rounds combined) with that resume plus KR.
I like Joe Adams over Graham, but he has already missed games due to a minor stroke. Considering what I like in his game (slot/KR/PR) it makes more sense to take Graham in the 6th than Adams (with cardiovascular issues) in the 4th or earlier. Besides, when was the last time you saw a WR with 4.4 speed and 4 collegiate KR/PR TD's last until the 7th? Graham may even be gone by the 6th.
If we don't grab Ta'amu in the 2nd, I'd like Josh Chapman in the 3rd. He's got a 3-4 grade on him, but there are ONLY TWO guys in this draft who do what he and Ta'amu do: Winning vs double-teams in the run game. The rest are one-on-one pass rushers in the Patterson and Laws mold. we need a guy to anchor the middle in this Wide 9 to create one-on-ones for Cole, Jenkins, and Babin. Again, only two guys in this draft managed it in college.
