The Firing Of Spagnolo And The Giants Making The Playoffs Works Out Well For The Eagles.
Had the Cowboys made the playoffs it would have meant an opportunity for the Giants to fire their Head Coach or defensive coordinator and reach out to Spags. This would have prevented the Eagles from an opportunity to sign him. That would have meant more of Juan trying to figure it out. Let's not forget how exposed Juan's defense has been when he's played against real quarterbacks. Fortunately the Cowboys are so woefully bad they got handled and the Giants mad it in. Score for the Eagles. Now they can swoop in and hire Spags before the Giants can. An added bonus to the Giants making the playoffs is the Cowboys will instead of the Giants will be drafting ahead of the Eagles and I were a GM I would much rather have Jerry Jones drafting ahead of me in the division than the Giants staff. So thanks Jerry Jones for making such a sh!tty team.

I hope they are wise enough to see they need to make some changes here. Spags is a Jim Johnson disciple with his own style. It's clear the Eagles personnel are not designed to sit in Zones. They are an attack defense and Juan never understood that until it was too late. If they truly want to win a bowl, they better be willing to make some changes.

Seriously the Eagles killed their speed on defense all season by sitting in zones the first half of the year. They were a read and react mess. They made it seem at first that Juan was going to simplify the defense. All he did was eliminate the zone blitz style of JJ and he went to a Tampa 2 Zone style and it killed the defense. The Wide 9 helped make them a mess. It wasn't until they decided to play man and blitz people they became more effective. I think Juan is a great person, but that's not reason enough for him to keep his job. I am hoping that is what Lurie is planning to say today at 2:30. We got a new coordinator and his name is Steve......

juan castillo grew on me this season. his hard work and dedication paid dividends later in the season and the defense showed that it and he may have potential yet unseen. BUT I WOULD DROWN HIM AND SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO LOOK JUST LIKE HIM TO GET STEVE SPAGNOULO IN HERE! SPAGGY IS BLITZING MACHINE!
