The Question is what is a fan?

A fan in my mind is a fan who supports his or her team under any circumstances.

I've blogged about this and of course if the said blog aint about a certain eagles football team?

It aint going to get logged in?

I told some so called blogger just a second ago and he was trying to coach me into what a  real fan is?

I told this dude about my fan ship with the Oregon ducks, how we have so many titles and where are they, track and field, none  for college football, none for baseball/softball, volleyball, ohh wait one for men's hoops from 1939.

But do I go off on a bee and moan out burst as some with the phiilie eagles?

No, NO I don't ,listen Ive seen coaches come and go...one stayed 5 years as a stepping stone for better things to come...two were fired even though they were  the winnest  coaches in their sports?

A  real fan sticks like glue to the team win lose or draw.

Take the Cubs fans, take any sport , team that's never ever been to a bowl game, I'M sure they are out there.

So don't go trying to educate me on fanship ? sir or lady?

If you are so educated / then goggle Oregon sports history, find out how many national titles  we have, find out the many coaching changes us duck fans have seen.

I'm sure if you are a so called sports freak, you will find track and field/ cross county is the sport for champions at least around here .

But Do I as some  do bee and moan about it?

No its the way it is.

When Oregon football sucked the biggest egg did I not go?? NO.

When Oregon basketball, was so bad people went to only watch the JAY VEES and frosh games , and left the gym like their pants were on fire, I'm sorry we stayed and watched the varsity .

I recall when Oregon baseball was so bad  I was shocked the coach didn't start asking fans to play?

So don't don't even try to teach me the word fan ,kind sir!!!

While your being and moaning about the  eagles????

  • Kelly, I saw the blog your talking about when you said...
(I told some so called blogger just a second ago and he was trying to coach me into what a real fan is?)
That isn't a man you responded to, just thought you should know. But you weren't far off when you referred to that particular blogger as a 'he'. I do agree though, a fan roots for their team no matter what, or else you have no right calling yourself a fan A perfect example are the Tampa Bay Rays fans...their stadium can't draw enough fans to fill a high school football stadiums most games. But, if they make the playoffs then 50,000 fans will say they were at all the games all season long, they're called phonies, front runners and bandwagon jumpers and they nauseate me.
  • Just like the sudden emergence of the 49ers fan in the 80s, and the Bulls and Cowboys fans in the 90s. I met a man fro Alabama, who when I first met him was a Bills fan, but two years later became a Cowboys fan???? I mean WTF? Bandwagon jumpers are by far the worst "fans" in the world.
  • I still say I see us living in a spoiled brat winners world, here's an example lets say Mark Helfrich new Oregon football coach isn't what we as fans expected and the team starts to sink?
Id wager a great % of these fans wouldn't get near the stadium why, they are used to winning and nothing else!
and they are not fans, they are fans of the word "WIN" but not a team.
ever hear the song "Stand by your man?"
I say reword the song stand by your team....the Beach Boys sang a song "be true to your school"
  • speaking of 'fans', the Miami Heat fans abandoning their team in the FINALS game is just ludicrous

anyway, my question for you is this (and before I ask the question, I just want to point out that I agree with your sentiment... I just like playing devil's advocate)

What defines a team? is it the logo on the helmet, or the personnel that make it up? If the Eagles were to be sold to someone new, and that person fires the entire coaching staff and doesn't re-sign any of their free agents, then the next year, the team would be made up of an entirely new administration, with new ideals, new strategies, and minimal ties to the franchise's history.

Is it OK to turn your back on that team? Now that it really isn't your team anymore. Granted, the history is still there, and at that point it becomes the logo on the helmet that you cheer for, rather than the people who wear it.
  • the university of Oregon has won 24 national championship titles, 3 added with the gymnastics and movement? a sport yes!
most won are from track and field/cross country, one in 1939 won by the men's basketball team, Now the question? what is a fan...simple a true duck fan despite no titles in football, bases/softball , include volleyball, soccer etc etc.
The thing that saddens me is if Chip Kelly had stayed, are kidding me, I really think we'd been the next Alabama!
I get very tired of hearing so called duck fans become almost religious over a sport?
lose and one might think the world as we know it has ended?
    when its just a game!
I have been an Oregon ducks fan since I was child , add win lose or draw....im turning 61 on Saturday, lets look shall we, not all that .long ago when Oregon state beat the hello out of us ducks in men's baseball, gatta tip your hat to the beavers some cant why??? spoiled brat winners...
me I changed fast when dad asked the question when the half time score 56-zip? then I think after chip Kelly maybe?? huh put in the 2nd 3rd 3 string and the score became 56-14 .....are you bleeping when dad said I cant believe Oregon allowed the buffs to score 14 points?? that my friend when I decided Im not a fanatic im just a fan hey wanna know the final 70-14???
to this day im sure some are crying???? how could they let the buffs score 14 we wanted a blood bath????
then we jump on board the bandwagon with the jumpers...
I say very simple YOUR A FAN..WIn lose or draw nothing MO nothing less....
