WHAT DOES THE TE TELL US?

BASED on the current roster, either we're drafting a TE or we're de-emphasizing the position as a weapon. Nobody on the roster has more than 9 career receptions. Knowing that, they didn't seem at all concerned with keeping Brandon Myers. Then again how could they be? Myers himself had come out of nowhere last year.

My hope is that we go the Ed West/Jay Novacek route. Use the TE primarily as a blocker and hit him with dump off passes just to loosen the LB in the box to make room for the run inside. 35 to 45 catches, 400-450 yards on the season with a few targets inside the 10 even if they don't score.

Since we're getting away from from the Zone based running and moving to a Power based scheme, it would only make sense to do it this way. Running hard and dumping passes to the TE should bring down the Safety into the box. That will open up one on one's on the outside for WR's Denarius Moore and what looks to be Rod Streater (?) so far.

Could be fun.
