YARDBARKER'S RESPONSE TO MY IDEA.

YARDBARKER'S Jeff Kloster sent me this reply in response to my e-mail suggesting that users be able to block each others IP addresses instead of just each others ID's.

This is his (copy and pasted) response to me:

Hey Walter,

Thanks for the email. This is a good idea, but it's not quite as straightforward as it sounds. Blocking IP addresses can result in false positives. We are looking into systems to address the issue you've brought up. Thanks for your input and patience.

Perhaps this was just an attempt to placate one of a just a handful of remaining posters on the Football division of YB. Maybe they're looking to find ways to add posters (i.e. Free Content), and realize that the first step is to stop losing posters and visitors which equal comments and clicks (i.e. quantifiable traffic and ad views). Doesn't matter which it is, the point is it wasn't ignored. Either they really care about the issue, or the really care what we think. Since these roads eventually converge, the only question is whether YB will fix this issue before people like myself simply run out of patience and find a better place to spend our time and energy.

  • I only posted this because Greentildeath asked if I'd gotten a response. Whether it's a blow off or not is immaterial. They will either fix it or they won't.
  • sounds like the response I got?? when foxsports talked about giving up blogging???
  • I appreciate you sharing your response with the rest of the yard, flip. I'm not surprised that Jeff shot it down but I am happy that he finally seems to be doing something with some of the barkers who are breaking rules constantly. I guess we all need to learn from what happened to Bigrele. He was only showing up to vent about his displeasure with how some fans responded to McNabb's trade yet did it in an immature way with insults and seems to have gotten the boot for it. As little as Bigrele's comments bothered me that is not truly what we need in this yard. We also don't need the personal attacks by another barker and his comments seem to be getting blocked unless we choose to see them and I have to admit I am thrilled by that so if this is Jeff's doing hats off to him. Maybe there is still hope for this yard.
