You're OUTTA Here!!
MIKEY VICK IS GONEEEEE
well, not really, sounds like Howard Eskin is reporting that Nick FOLES is going to get his chance!
I have to tell you! This is exciting news! Don't get me wrong, I would much rather have Morningweg GONE each and every day! But a change on the offense was desperately needed! They have scored like 1 touchdown in the First Quarter all season! That's pretty bad (We are entering week 9 fellas)
-
do you think Nick Foles keeps pace with Drew Brees? If not, then you surrender another full season of football. 8 games of nothing but evaluating a 3rd round scrub. Sure we may have some Bobby Hoying moments but it could be worse.
-
You sit there and state that I keep trying to hold onto Reid (which is far from the truth) but here you are already starting to take shots at a rookie because Vick may be benched. You are pathetic!
-
No not really, what I am defending is the ticketholders rights to have a full season of football that gives them the best chance to win as many games as possible during the season. The time to evaluate a rookie is during preseason. If he was the better player he should have started. He wasnt and wont be. So now the dopey fans will be subjected to a season ending evaluation. You call that fair?
-
Once again Lurie is held to a lower standard and the product can be bad and the fans will buy this con job.
-
Lurie is CHEAP! That's something NO one talks about.. WHy are we always on the bottom of spending? Next season we have to spend minimum of like 90% of the cap! I can't wait
-
I disagree, Zukny. Ray Didinger just discussed this on WIP on Saturday when a ranting fan called the station. He said that the thought the Eagles were at the bottom every year was not true. He stated that fans need to look at the end of the year and not be so concerned at where they are in the beginning. The Eagles always save money (and I get that they are way under this year and wished they would have addressed some other concerns) to sign up and comers and they will have to pinpoint a couple of players to do that to this year. Maclin, maybe DRC but neither may get contract offers they are willing to sign from the Eagles...not right now. I'm pretty sure that some of the players contracts are spiking up next year...Desean Jackson just being one of them. I think the thinking that the Eagles are cheap started with Reid going cheap when it came to going after receivers until TO (it also is because of the lesser contracts the team has offered some of the younger vets in their second contracts but nobody forced them to sign them...they could have waited and tested the market). Since 1999, the Eagles have signed Runyan (thought of as the top lineman on the market) and gave him what was then the highest contract given to a lineman. They did the the same with Samuel a few years ago. They went after and signed both TO and Kearse in 2004 and both were not only considered the top two at their positions but were also the top two players on the market! They brought in Stacey Andrews at a WAY too high price to try to soothe the mind of another overpaid Andrews. They also traded for Jason Peters the same year and threw out a huge amount of money at him and made him one of the highest paid linemen in the league. I think it was the same year they brought in Leonard Weaver and the following year proceeded to make him the highest paid fullback EVER at the time. That isn't even mentioning the players they brought in last year...I get that they haven't paid dividends but they still paid the money for them.
-
Lie^^^^^. Eagles consitently have tons of cap space.
-
Show me, hollywood. I showed you proof...go back and get me yours. I've told you before...the Eagles HAVE to spend a certain percentages and they do. Ray Didinger has said the same I have been telling you for quite a while...he does his homework and KNOWS what he is talking about. He has NO reason to lie. You on the other hand...lie all the time.
-
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/09/08/team-by-team-cap-space-as-of-september-7/
This link shows the eagles having 21.4 Million in Cap space on September 7th. You mentioned they brought all these guys in, but you didn't mentioned they dropped them all! Stacey Andrews - Gone, Weaver - Gone, lol.. Signed DJax - Cheap.
Also they didnt' go after ANYONE in free agency this year! Imagine having: Tulluch as our 3rd Linebacker? Or Vincent Jackson as our Number 1 WR & turning Desean into our 3rd receiver? Have you noticed how they are always putting Djax in motion now?
There were TONS of people on the market this season and the eagles didn't go after 1 GUY!
They have gone after players before.. specifically a few seasons ago w/ Asomghoua < which hasn't panned out; But they also consistently are a bottom spending football team. -
lastly: The eagles don't have to spend a certain percentage until next season.. That rule has not yet taken effect.
-
My point had nothing to do with all these guys STILL being here and more to do with showing that the Eagles do go after top talent. I admitted that they didn't go afteranyone this year and I also stated it would have been nice if they would have but a lot of the guys they re-signed this year will have major increases in salary next year...especially Jackson.
There certainly has been a mininum percentage in the last salary cap and here is a part of the 2006 CBA to prove it. Not as high as the new one but there still was a minimum.
Section 5. Minimum Team Salary:
(a) For the 2006 League Year, there shall be a guaranteed Minimum
Team Salary of 84% of the Salary Cap. For each subsequent Capped Year,
the percentage set forth in the prior sentence shall increase 1.2%, but in no
event shall the percentage be greater than 90%. For example, in the 2008
League Year, there shall be a guaranteed Minimum Team Salary of 86.4% of
the Salary Cap. Each Team shall be required to have a Team Salary of at least
the Minimum Team Salary at the end of each Capped Year. There shall be
no Minimum Team Salary in the Final League Year.
(b) Nothing contained herein shall preclude a Team from having a
Team Salary in excess of the Minimum Team Salary, provided it does not exceed
the Salary Cap.
(c) Any shortfall in the Minimum Team Salary at the end of a League
Year shall be paid, on or before April 15 of the next League Year, by the
Teams having such shortfall, directly to the players who were on such
Teams’ roster at any time during the season, pursuant to reasonable allocation
instructions of the NFLPA.
(d) If the NFL agrees, or a judgment or awardprove it:
You ask whether it would have been nice if the Eagles went after a linebacker this year? What do you call Ryans...and you can't tell me they went cheap because he is costing them 6 million a year. There were cheaper linebackers on the market they could have went after and negotiated with but they brought Ryans in. Just like you here fans do forget and I think that is what happens with Eagle fans some times. They forget who the Eagles brought in during years past, they forget who the Eagles re-signed...they sometimes fall into thinking the Eagles spend NO money because their spending isn't gltzy evey year when in truth by the end of year they spend their share. I never thought the Eagles were overly cheap, thrifty at times but not cheap and Didinger was emphatic when telling the Eagles fan on 610 pretty much the same thing on Saturday. If he thinks it that is good enough for me. -
Looked into this years cap and yes you are right...no minimum until next year when it is set at 89%. Also looked at Eaglescap.com which has the Eagles at around 22-23 million under the cap. I mentioned that some of the Eagles player's salaries will increase next year and you know where they are at with a projected salary cap next year around the same? 17 million OVER the cap. These things have to be taken into consideration and are things almost NEVER taken into consideration by most fans when they want the Eagles to spend. Next years coach and the FO may have to dump some salaries to get this team comfortably under the cap...a good place to start would be Vick and that WILL happen.
-
Did a little more looking at the Eagles salaries for next year and here are some of the better examples of salary jumps. Vick and Asomugha are due about 4 million in increases each and both may end of being casualties because of this and their play. Peters and McCoy are due about 2.5 million each but Peters I believe will technically be about 6 million higher because the Eagles used a clause that cut his pay to around 4.5 million this year...he will be getting paid over 10 million next year. Jackson's salary shoots up 6 million also and there are plenty of players like Mathis and Herremans that are in the 1-2 million dollar increase. Of course there are a couple players who will be getting paid less and there is also Demetress Bell who according to his "5" year deal will get a 6 million dollar increase when we all know that his deal was only ever a 1 year deal. The increaes far outweigh the decreases and the Eagles will be playing with salaries next year to stay below the cap...unless it increases greatly.
-
The time to evaluate rookies is during the preseason? More hollywood BS. You would have no qualms about putting in a rookie over anybody you didn't like and you know it! Stop with the acting concerned for the people you constantly call stupid...the ticket holders. Who do you think you're fooling?
-
I dont care i wont be ought there freezing my nuts off watching Nick Foles and the two yard passes and three and outs.
-
OK Holly that's fine. Don't watch, we don't mind. What's bothersome is you say that MORE often then Andy say's "This one's on me" and just like that useless coach you watch anyway.
-
I know you don't care so why the lies? Because that is what you do!
-
You're wron about Foles. He was drafter for his arm and he has a big one. He wont be out there just throwing 2 yard outs. With that being the case, screens and short routes made up most of McNabb's early career.
-
a 3rd rounder with a 1 meaningless preseason game under his belt. No thanks.
-
Do you call having the worst QB in EAGLES (possibly entire NFL) history fair?
-
I would call that a massive stretch.
-
Vick up to this point has been a glorified Bobby Hoying.
-
Again, that isnt true either. Lets not twist the truth.
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA at you for telling anyone not to twist the truth!
-
Yeah it kind of is. Like Bobby Hoying he looked good early and like Bobboy Hoying he's stuck ever since. Unlike Bobby Hoying the Eagles keep sticking with him, because people think the guy is the same guy from Atlanta they desperately wanted to change in the first place. Thus that makes him GLORIFIED.
-
A or B
A: Brady Quinn
B: Michael Vick
That shouldn't be a hard decision but it is lol -
It's a little tougher than that but we don't know how good (or bad) Foles can be. Have to play him to find out though, right? Have to see what is there since Vick is not going to be in Philly next year. He could turn out to be a player and having him start is the only way to find out.
-
Agreed. The point of the A or B thing was.. Vick clearly isn't getting the job done & it seems there are very few people that disagree with that statement.
-
really, whats pathetic is the FO benching Vick to dump yet another salary from its books. Its called discredit and dump. Can you name any 3-4 teams doing the samething. Is Romo hitting the bench?
-
Discredit and dump? No one can discredit Vick more than he has already himself with his horrendous play! You keep showing us how you are just holding onto your preidctions. You are ready to dump this team and get rid of the coach (like most of us) but you won't do it for the QB only because you have been such a big supporter of his...what a joke!
-
There are plenty of Qbs playing better than Vick but Nick Foles wont be one of them. The fact is if the Eagles had a real QB backing up Vick I would have no problem with a switch but the fact is that Foles isnt the guy to bring wins.
-
Soon it will be all about seeing what they have for the future, hollywood...and the fact is the future isn't Mike Vick!
-
Always thinking future. Thats a loser mentality. Theyve paid Vick. Run him 30 times a game. Run shady another 30. But do anything necessary to win. They have not exhausted all avenues.
-
I'm thinking future when the Eagles give me no other choice. Vick has been bad for too long. Time to see if someone else sees things quicker than Vick. See if someone else has more accuracy to squeeze some balls into spots Vick knows he can't. Time to see if there are actually some receivers open deep that Vick hasn't seen. If Vick is the starter for the rest of the season I will root him on. He is an Eagle and I'm an Eagle's fan...is there any other way? Oh yeah, your sleazy way of hoping the starter gets hurt so the backup can take over...nope won't bring myself to stoop to your level.
-
And all the idiots will be paying dollars to see this guy stink the linc on freezing cold winter days. Too those that are dumb enough to support that have at it baby. Its all yours.
-
What idiots, hollywood...the ones you are so concerned about? You freaking BSer!
-
Really, whn their hands are clasped together and they are blowing warm breath into them to stay warm and Nick Foles has tossed his 2nd interception in the 1st Qtr and one for as pick 6. Come back an talk to me.
-
They are called fans Holly. True fans who bleed green.
-
They are called fools that would by sh*t on a stick if Lurie was selling it.
-
Hell, you just described one of Vick's better games this year.
-
comment below viewing threshold
-
Hollywood I don't get what you are upset about. You said yourself Vick should sit. It's just one step closer to Reid being gone. You of all people should be the happiest one on this site.
-
He is upset because his predictions are all he cares about and Vick was one of the ones that he whined about for months. He constantly tells us when he gets one right (even when he doesn't) and pats himself on the back for stupid claims. "I talked to Ike Reese and he agrees that everybody in the whole wide world hates Reid" (okay, a little bit of an exaggeration)..."I talked to TO and he must have agreed with me about my claim that McNabb must have lost the Super Bowl on purpose because he laughed when I said it" (wish I could type that this was an exaggeration but this was a hollywood claim to me once). What a bunch of BS! Hollywood will never be happy no matter what Eazy. Can you honestly picturing hollywoodeagle typing mostly positive reviews about this team no matter who owns it or who is coaching it? Absolutely, no freaking way!
-
Call me a liar all you want. Its you lying to everyone here everyday. Always defending Reid and the front office. You porobably work for them. That would confirm you lkie your rear end off. But so be it tahts what you are a shill for the front office.
-
That's not what I see. The way I see it, he does not defend Reid he just looks at it a little more rational than you. You blow things out of proportion and GTD tries to bring you into reality.
-
Thank you Spotella and it is exactly what I try do with hollywood and have told him that many times in the past.
-
I don't work for the Eagles, hollywood. Just a fan and like Spotella stated, I just take a more rational approach when discussing the Eagles than you. Look back on how consistent my personal comments have been. That is due to one reason...I type the truth or at least what I believe to be true..unlike you! You can accuse me of lying all you want. Most barkers know how much you BS, a lot of them have been dealing with you longer than I have been. They know the truth!
-
Since when has Hollywood been anything shy of crazy? :)
-
You got that right, Zukny!
-
Close to never.
-
LOL! I think the majority has spoken, hollywood. Throw in flip who would rather not even deal with you and...
-
I think it makes matters worse. I would rather them fire Reid then play Foles . But this is comedy routine now. Whatcould Reid possibly do to help this guy except kill his confidence and get him hurt.
-
Why do you care? You just called him a scrub yesterday and if he struggles you will be on here telling us how right you were and how wrong the Eagles were for benching their STRUGGLING quarterback. If he throws an incompletion on his first pass you'll probably be running for your computer.
-
Based on where he was drafted the experts dont really place him as a high prospect.
-
At least he is a prospect and not a "has been".
-
Your a prospect. You suck but your a prospect.
-
LOL. Really?
-
Mark my words= Lurie stripping team down to sell it.
-
I'm sure you will be able to say I told you so in like 20 years.
-
Like I stated yesterday...if it happens it happens...why do you give a damn? Just hoping you can nail another theory? why don't you stop being a whiner and start being a fan?
-
Hollywood would rather be right (despite how many times he's proven wrong) about a topic that sinks the Eagles than to be wrong and they be a success. That's why no one takes him seriously.
-
Yep!
-
Holly's doesn't know what a fan is.
-
No, he doesn't.
-
I just read Reid is not changing the QB, we're still stuck with that trash.
-
Reid trying to still hold on...was hoping I could have something to look forward to on Monday night. I think it is still speculation at this point but does sound like you are right. Should know for sure later today.
-
I just have a problem with a guy who so willingly conceded his position to the backup. I mean it seems as if Vick has already given up. A startling comment coming from a guy who just two months ago was boasting about dynasties. Of course that's a big problem with this team. They talk to damn much.
-
Just looking at a blog that stated there is talk that Asomugha doesn't care about football as much as he used to (coming from Mike Florio, I think). If that is the case they need to take that 4 million dollar hit next year and cut his ass!
-
Did he feel that way when he took the money? What did he think was going to happen when he went to Philly. People aren't going to praise you for looking like trash here. These guys are still stuck in the world of Dream Team. They thought they were better than they really are. You're right. A 4 million dollar hit is worth dumping this bum.
-
I must correct myself. One semi-pro cheerleader will praise people for looking like trash.
-
I read that blog an honestly my thought is our locker room has sucked the life out of him. There is something wrong between the players they do not work like a well oiled machine they work like a clock missing both hands.
-
good way to put it.
-
Could be true but that is hardly the way to show Marsh and Boykins that he is a leader. Regardless, in the NFL one of the differences between being a stud and just another player is desire and if Asomugha has lost it he needs to go. Maybe a new coach can bring out the old Asomugha. If he is still here next year I will certainly hope so...actually I'm still hoping he turns it around this year but as each week goes by I'm losing that hope.
-
I think Boykins should be starting. Bench him. Who cares at this point. Hes playing like garbage.
-
Reid knows hs out op options. Vick is the only one that can save Phat man from the firing squad.
-
Oh please tell us the facts, I need a good laugh.
-
You're probably right and if you are Reid is a dead man walking. Vick could give him his blindfold and cigarette...if he can hold onto them.
-
I see them scoring some points problem is I see Drew Brees scoring a few more. They are in trouble. Tough spot no way out as i see it.
-
It will be extremely tough and there will definitely be casualties and the top two are Reid and Vick. No way around that!
-
Foles Foles Foles...
-
Probably soon, YM5!
-
On a brighter note its my 50th birthday on Saturday November 3rd. Thats the truth GTD you need my birth certificate?
-
Happy birthday Wood.
-
No hollywood. I have seen your comments for the last two years plus and knew you either turned 50 lately or you would be 50 soon. I'll be with you next year. Happy early Birthday!
-
Thanks I appreciate it.
