Chris Duhon Look Out: Kidd May Not Be Coming, But Toney Douglas Is Up and Coming

In the Knicks first summer league competition, a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, their 29th pick, Toney Douglas gave a hint of why he may take Duhon's spot as the starting point guard by the middle of the season if the Knicks are unable to nab a more experienced point guard.

Although Douglas did not show well, in terms of his shooting, he was superb as he guided the Knicks and dished out 11 assists. If he had shooters other than Morris Almond, he would have had even more assists. Extrapolating that to the offensive minded Knicks roster, Almond could become quite a force.

Douglas brought a lot of energy to the court as he demonstrated an ability to run Weber’s squad. Toney has a strong build and quiet intensity in his game. He keeps the ball near his body on the dribble as he challenges and splits defenders.
He performed extremely well while defending Marcus Williams, who has yet to catch the starring role he covets, but possesses a NBA points game and frame, if not frame of mind. At the endgame, William’s NBA experience showed as he began to outduel Douglas.Duhon's job is not safe as Douglas grows in confidence and experience. Who needs Jason Kidd at this point?
