rebuild, schmebuild.
There seems to be much chatter in the direction of the Indians trading what established talent they have for a brighter future. Since the present, 94 losses in '12, is pretty dim, it's hard to argue against wholesale changes.
The discouraging part is that the executives that would make these proposed trades are the same ones that traded Martinez, Lee and CC. We have nobody on our current roster at the level of those 3. So if the result of trading them produces 68 wins, what can we expect in return for Cabrera, Choo and Santana? Well, unless Terry Francona brings with him a huge philosopical shift in talent evaluation, and the rest of the organization follows his lead, I'm afraid the best we can hope for is another handful of years in 4th-5th place.
- and then another "rebuild".
btw - is it valid to call it "rebuilding" when there was nothing built in the first place?
