Day to day

Indiana Hoosiers basketball coach Kelvin Sampson is on the verge of unemployment because he made unauthorized phone calls to recruits. It seems that he didn't learn his lesson at Oklahoma, where he also made improper phone calls to recruits. More than 550 of 'em total. At Indiana, Sampson toned down his improper behavior but the 10 conference calls he participated in are probably enough to get him fired. It doesn't help that he reportedly lied to the NCAA about the violations. The school is in the process of investigating Sampson, and has said that his employment with the University is "game to game." Is this the end of the road for Sampson? Or will some school be foolish enough to risk its recruiting future by hiring this fool? Regardless we should know soon. The school is in the process of conducting its own internal investigation, the end of which will probably involve Sampson's head on the chopping block. Maybe Bobby "The General" Knight will return to Bloomington? Indiana is at home tonight against Michigan State (9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN). The Indy Star has more details on the Sampson Saga.
