Jayhawks start season with Late Night
Kansas fans got their first look at the 2007-08 Jayhawk basketball team Friday night at Late Night in the Phog. The team has almost the exact same roster as last year, losing only forward Julian Wright to the NBA. Many players impressed spectators. In the 20-minute scrimmage, senior Jeremy Case shot a perfect five-for-five, scoring 12 points. Sophomore led all scorers with 13 points, but shot only six-for-13 and one-for-six on three pointers. Senior center Sasha Kaun also had a few nice plays, ending the game with nine points and six rebounds. Junior Mario Chalmers finished with five points, five assists and four rebounds. Freshman Conner Teahen made both of his three-point attempts in the scrimmage. A couple players left a few questions. Senior guard Russell Robinson went one-for-four with three points and only two assists in 17 minutes. Freshman forward Cole Aldrich didn't look impressive at all. His defense was poor. He had no rebounds and turned the ball over three times in his nine minutes on the floor. Junior Brandon Rush did not participate as he continues to rehab is knee that kept him out of the NBA Draft after last season.
