At first I was rather skeptical that this was nothing more than an elaborate April Fools’ Day prank perpetrated by PGA pro Bubba Watson and Oakley, but then I remembered that April Fools’ Day gags work better when they happen on April Fools’ Day. And even if this is a hoax of epic proportions so be it, they did create a working prototype of a hovercraft golf cart, called BW1 for obvious reasons, and that is seven layers of delicious awesomeness. If you choose to believe this is a legitimate endeavor (as I do), then the idea of a hovercraft golf cart makes sense. The “hovercraft expert” makes a ton of good points regarding footprint pressure on the green and whatnot, but the most compelling argument comes from Bubba himself, when he talks about driving the hovercraft over water hazards to the green and back. Tell me that bombing all over a golf course in a hovercraft, including over top of ponds and other bodies of water, wouldn’t be the greatest thing to happen to golf since Caddyshack? Now all the 2012 Masters champion has to do is paint his incredible hovercraft golf cart to resemble the General Lee and it will be complete. Or not, seeing that it’s pretty cool as is. Either way, Bubba Watson’s life continues to be infinitely better than yours or mine.
