You think major championship records, and you don't think Jason Dufner right away. At the beginning of his career, he had a hard enough time just holding onto a PGA Tour card. He had just two top-10 finishes in 2010, and you might have said he was a little bummed out. But Dufner does appear to be on fire at the moment. He shot a 63 Friday in the second round of the PGA Championship. That equals the record, which had been done 23 times before, and left him in first place at dinnertime Friday. "I'm just happy to be in this position going into the weekend," he told the Los Angeles Times. That's typical of a guy who never gets too excited. (h/t to Deadspin for the photo). There were signs Dufner had been heating up for a while now, though. It started in 2011, when Dufner, who had never won a PGA tournament of any kind, entered the final round of the PGA Championship tied for the lead with Brendan Steele. After Keegan Bradley made triple bogey on the 15th hole...

Dufner shows some emotion, hangs on at Oak Hill

No Dufnering on this day. In fact, Jason Dufner actually showed a bit of emotion. When he spotted his ball in the creek at No. 5, he yanked his driver out of the bag to mark the spot for a drop, then slammed it back in when he was done. After an errant drive at the final hole, he tossed the club away with disdain and stalked off angrily down the fairway. Yet Dufner managed to hold...

Jason Dufner’s wife Amanda celebrates PGA Championship win

Jason Dufner deserves credit for winning his first career major on Sunday, but the man also needs some serious props for the woman by his side. Dufner, 36, shot a final-round 68 at Oak Hill on Sunday to capture the PGA Championship, which was his first major title. He held off Jim Furyk by two […]

Jason Dufner pats wife’s butt after winning PGA Championship

Jason Dufner may have had a lackadaisical reaction to winning the PGA Championship by two strokes over Jim Furyk, but he did appear extra excited to see his wife Amanda Boyd after Sunday’s round. [@BrianFloyd]

Can Tiger make a move in round 2?

Jason Dufner has matched a major championship scoring record with a 7-under 63 in the second round of the PGA Championship. Dufner had a golden chance at history, sticking his second shot within 12 feet of the flag Friday on the tough closing hole at Oak Hill. But, perhaps realizing the significance of his round for the first time, he left the putt 18 inches shy of the cup. Still...

Jason Dufner Nearly Makes History in Second Round of PGA Championship

When Jason Dufner nailed the awesome shot below for an eagle he had to be thinking that it was going to be a good day for him on the course Friday. Well--he was right. Dufner had a shot at breaking the record for the lowest round in a Major, but left a putt short on the 18th hole. The record would be nice, but tying (with a 63) and sitting on top of the leader board after Day...

Jason Dufner holes out for eagle from way out, Justin Rose takes huge divot (GIFs)

The GIFs are coming fast and furious on Friday as the players slog their way through a soggy second round of the PGA Championship at Oak Hill. Boob grab videobombs, squeegees and a dancing kid were covered previously, now comes GIF-fey goodness showing how Jason Dufner got his round off to a miraculous start by […]The post Jason Dufner holes out for eagle from way out, Justin Rose...

Jason Dufner holes out for eagle at the PGA Championship (Video)

After shooting an opening-round round 68 at Oak Hill on Thursday, Jason Dufner got off to a hot start in the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday. The 2011 PGA Championship runner up spun a ball perfectly at the 2nd hole and holed out for eagle. Players were able to post some incredible [...]

Dufner beats Furyk for 1st major title

Jason Dufner won his first major title with a two-stroke victory over Jim Furyk at the PGA Championship on Sunday. Dufner bogeyed the final two holes for a 2-under-par 68 that was good enough to hold off the 2003 US Open champion. The winning score was 10-under 270. Henrik Stenson finished three shots back. Dufner made up for the heartache of the 2011 PGA, when he went to the...

Jason Dufner Misses Single-Round Major Record After Leaving Final Putt Short (Video)

Jason Dufner had a chance to make history Friday afternoon. Nobody has ever shot a single-round score of 62 at a major championship, but Dufner had the opportunity to do just that by sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the 18th green at Oak Hill, the home of this year’s PGA Championship. But he 36-year-old left his putt just short, forcing him to settle for a second-round 63. Dufner...

PGA course providing no challenge

The gravitas of the moment overwhelmed Jason Dufner. "When you're chasing history, it's tough," he would later say. On the last hole at Oak Hill on a sunny Friday afternoon, Dufner had launched a six-iron from the fairway "and left it in the perfect spot." About a dozen feet away lay immortality. The read was simple: straight in. All he had to do...

Lefty, Tiger tank in third round

Jason Dufner teed off Saturday with a two-stroke lead at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill, coming off a record-tying performance in the second round. He shot a 7-under 63, becoming just the 24th player to go that low in a major championship. Adam Scott, Jim Furyk and Matt Kuchar were the closest pursuers, while eight other players were lurking within five shots of the lead. Phil...

Did Jason Dufner or Matthew Stafford win the PGA Championship?

The PGA season is winding down to an end while the NFL season is getting ready to crank up. For the fourth time in five seasons, a new champion has been crowned in the last major of the PGA tour of the season, the PGA Championship. Jason Dufner experienced a fantastic week at Oak Hill but was it really Jason Dufner or was Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford actually playing...

Scott, Rose in position at PGA to win 2nd major

Justin Rose watched Adam Scott shoot 30 on his front nine Thursday, so he outdid his friend with a 29 on the back nine Friday at the PGA Championship. Seems only appropriate for two guys born a couple of weeks apart who have followed similar paths ever since. At the start of 2013, neither had a major title. Now both have the chance to become the third player in the last 15 years...

Tiger's problems in majors continue

Tiger Woods walked off the 18th hole and past Jason Dufner and Adam Scott, who stood on the putting green still waiting to tee off as the last group of the PGA Championship's third round. Woods is usually the one starting his day well into the afternoon on the weekend at a major. But he keeps heading the wrong direction from the leaders at Oak Hill. The world's No. 1 golfer...
