It will be tough to follow Cristie Kerr’s impressive win at the LPGA Championship last week but the LPGA is in Ohio for the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic at Highland Meadows Golf Club, host since 1989. Defending champion Eunjung Yi will have to battle a tough field to successfully repeat this year.
Jiyai Shin is the top ranked player in Ohio this week, along with former Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic champion Paula Creamer, who won in 2008. Morgan Pressel is in the field this week after losing in a playoff to Yi last year. Other notables this week are Natalie Gulbis, Mika Miyazato, Brittany Lincicome, Angela Stanford and Christina Kim.
Highland Meadows Golf Club has hosted this tournament for fourteen years. It is a traditional course with narrow fairways and small greens protected by bunkers. The course plays to a par 71 measuring 6,428 yards.
