I don’t know how much of a shot Spanish golfer Álvaro Quirós has at this year’s U.S. Open Championship, but if this ace he pulled off on No.7 at the Olympic Club is any indication, I’d say he has as good a chance as any at winning the tournament. During Wednesday’s practice round, Quirós aced the 288-yard 7th hole, which may not seem like a big deal considering the man is a professional golfer, except that No.7 at the Olympic Club is a par-4. Granted, the hole-in-one did come during a practice round, and not an actual tournament round, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Sure, 288-yards is like a chip shot for most PGA players, but when you see that the shot is all uphill to a two-tiered green you get a sense of how fantastic Quirós’ shot really was. I’m sure the guy lounging on the green didn’t expect to witness an ace, but as luck would have it he had the best seat in the house.
