WXYZ in Detroit covered a tremendously-inspiring story on eighth grader Owen Groesser of Rochester, Michigan’s Van Hoosen Middle School. Owen was born with Down syndrome and has been the manager of the Van Hoosen eighth grade team this year. Wednesday night, Owen was given the opportunity to take the court in Van Hoosen’s last home game of the season, the last home game of Owen’s middle school career.
What Owen did with that opportunity has made national headlines and Owen and his father, Chris, were even live on Sportscenter Thursday. Here is WXYZ’s account:
Owen Groesser, an eighth grader with Down syndrome, who brought down the house Wednesday night when he scored two memorable three-pointers during the Van Hoosen basketball game, had another all-star night on the court.
The Van Hoosen coach put the Rochester Hills eighth grader into the basketball game again tonight and he scored four points. The crowd went wild.
