Arnold Palmer turns 80 this week, and we'll be commemorating the event all over the place. Today, many of Devil Ball's readers recall their encounters with the King."Around 1992, after a week of business in Orlando, I was spending the weekend at and playing Bayhill. One night I was seated a table away from Arnold and his group in the clubhouse for dinner. By this time, Arnold had his tournament and he was the number 1 or 2 car dealer in the country. Listening to their conversation, even though his tournament director was with him and he had all of these other business interests, the only thing that Arnold talked about was his game and what he had to do to make it better. Mesmerized, I nursed an after-dinner drink, but finally couldn't stick around anymore without being conspicuous so, I paid my check and left.
