A brief look at the 94th PGA Championship, which starts Thursday on the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island (all times EDT):
Site: Kiawah Island (Ocean Course).
Length: 7,676 yards.
Par: 36-36-72.
Field: 156 players (136 tour pros, 20 club pros).
Prize money: $8 million.
Winner's share: $1.445 million.
Defending champion: Keegan Bradley.
Last year: Keegan Bradley became only the third player in the last 100 years to win a major in his first try by winning a playoff at Atlanta Athletic Club. Five shots behind with three holes to play, Bradley went birdie-birdie-par for a 68, which got him into a three-hole playoff when Jason Dufner produced a late collapse. Dufner made three straight bogeys and finished with a par to join Bradley at 8-under 272. Bradley made a 4-foot birdie putt on the 16th, Dufner three-putted for bogey on the 17th to fall two behind, and Bradley closed him out with a par. Tiger Woods missed the cut for the first time in a PGA Championship.
Kiawah champions: United States (1991 Ryder Cup), Ireland (1997 World Cup, Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley), Colin Montgomerie (1997 World Cup, medalist), South Africa (2003 World Cup, Trevor Immelman and Rory Sabbatini).
Key statistic: Since the world ranking began in 1986, the PGA Championship has had only nine champions who were among the top 10 in the world, the fewest of any major.
Tiger Tales: This is the 14th major that Tiger Woods has played since he won his 14th - and last - major in the 2008 U.S. Open.
Noteworthy: Sixteen players have won the last 16 majors, a streak that does not include Tiger Woods.
Quoteworthy: ''For viewers at home, I think it's more exciting to watch a tournament not really knowing who's going to win. I think there were five or 10 years where you knew one or two guys were going to win.'' - Webb Simpson.
Key pairings: 8:30 a.m., Keegan Bradley, Martin Kaymer, Tiger Woods; 1:20 p.m., Bubba Watson, Webb Simpson, Ernie Els.
Television: Thursday and Friday, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., TNT Sports. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., TNT Sports; 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. CBS Sports. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., TNT Sports; 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., CBS Sports.
