Rory McIlroy - 2012 PGA Tour Player of the Year
Beating out Tiger Woods isn’t an easy task, but in 2012, Rory McIlroy managed to do it and become the PGA Tour Player of the Year. With one major win and three other wins on the PGA Tour, McIlory finished atop the money list and added the award to his trophy case. He also won the Vardon Trophy for the lowest scoring average on the PGA Tour for 2012.
What Led to His Victory?
It all started with a victory at The Honda Classic, but then Rory falters at the Masters and only finished 40th. He bounced back as the runner up at the Wells Fargo Championship, but missed the cut at both The Players and The Memorial Tournaments. Recovering for another top ten finish at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, Rory was well on his way to a fantastic year.
