On a day that Tiger Woods struggled with his putting stroke, a pair of older guys stood out in the morning round at the Greenbrier Classic. Vijay Singh shot a 7-under 63 to post the best score among the early finishers on Thursday on the Old White TPC Course. Jeff Maggert, who at 48 is a year younger than Singh, and Martin Flores both shot a 64. J.B. Holmes, U.S. Open champ Webb Simpson and Andres Romero were a shot further back after 65s. Woods, coming off last week's win in the AT&T National, stumbled on the par-5 17th. He drove into a hazard, took a penalty and three-putted from 20 feet for double-bogey. Among those with afternoon starts, Phil Mickelson played alongside defending champion Scott Stallings and 2010 winner Stuart Appleby.

Cheyenne Woods shoots 75 at Open

Given the chance to show that she had the game to match her famous family name, Cheyenne Woods did just fine. Woods shot a 3-over 75 in the first round of the U.S. Women's Open on Thursday - a round that wouldn't quite measure up to the best days of her uncle, Tiger Woods. But it wasn't bad for a 21-year-old recent Wake Forest graduate who just turned professional and...

Bogey-filled day puts Tiger far back

Win, win, tied-second, win, win, win, win, win, win. These were Tiger Woods' finishes in tournaments from the Bridgestone Invitational in August 2007 until Bay Hill in March 2008. It was an astonishing stretch -- his former caddie Steve Williams still thinks of those months as Tiger's peak -- that culminated, later in 2008, with Woods' greatest triumph, the US Open...

The quick trip helped make Woods' decision to compete in the tournament easy, coupled with...
