During a press conference leading up the Arnold Palmer Invitational where he will be competing this week and weekend, Tiger Woods spoke publicly for the first time about his relationship with Lindsey Vonn, explaining why he and his new girlfriend decided to go full-frontal with their romance by publishing joint announcements on Facebook and disseminating photos of themselves as a happy couple. The main reason? To really stick it to those obsessive, privacy-invading, photo-hunting media types that Woods referred to as the “stalkarazzi.” Said Woods: “We’re very happy where we’re at, but also we wanted to limit the ‘stalkarazzi’ and all those sleazy websites that are out there following us. I’ve had situations where it’s been very dangerous for my kids and the extent they’ll go to. We basically devalued the first photos. Unfortunately, that’s just the way it is in our society right now, and we felt like it was the best thing to do. I’m very happy about it.” Take that. And far be it from anyone to object to their decision to strike first and neuter any hope of the paparazzi of landing the first photo of them together, a highly coveted pic that would have garnered thousands and thousands of dollars for the photo-stalker who managed to weasel themselves in close enough by invading the privacy of the couple to snap the shot. Woods was also asked if he and Vonn had any plans of coming up with some nauseating nickname for their coupling, a question to which Woods smiled before replying, “Do I plan on it? No.” Good. Good.
