Tiger saves par after slick shot out of water

Overall, Tiger Woods had a pedestrian round of 70 during the first round of play of the Honda Classic on Thursday at PGA National Golf Club’s Champion Course. While a 70 was good for an even par round and only five off the pace of co-leaders Graham DeLaet and Branden Grace (who?) heading into Friday’s action, meaning Tiger is well within striking distance, that does not mean...

Tiger Woods scrambles to make cut at Honda

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. Tiger Woods nearly had a second straight free weekend to play some leisurely golf with Rory McIlroy. But a sand save at No. 17 and a scramble for par at No. 18 on Friday enabled Woods to finish 36 holes at even par right on the cut line and stay alive at The Honda Classic. Earlier, world No. 1 McIlroy withdrew in the middle of his ninth hole, citing...

Tiger Woods’ Barefoot Shot Leads Golfer to Change Clothes on Course, Puts Him on Track to Save Par (Video)

That fella disrobing near the bushes on an overcast day at the golf course? Well, that’s just Tiger Woods. Woods had to adjust his playing attire a bit when taking on the sixth hole at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens on Wednesday. He had knocked his drive next to a water hazard and looked likely to take a drop. While many a golfer would have taken the extra stroke, Woods...

Tiger Woods Does What it Takes at the Honda Classic

Tiger Woods is still Tiger Woods even though sometimes he is just--Tiger Woods. He may not always look like the best golfer in the world, but there are times when the guy that sat on top of the world of golf for years comes back and shows the greatness that made Eldrick Tont a household name at one time. Thursday at the Honda Classic the old Tiger reappeared for at least one...

Tiger opens Honda Classic at even par

Tiger Woods' last competitive round at PGA National was the best Sunday of his career, a remarkable round capped by an eagle that almost allowed him to catch the player trying to become No. 1 in the world. His round Thursday was less eventful. Woods, who closed the Honda Classic last year with a 62 that left him two shots behind Rory McIlroy, opened the event this year with...

Guthrie leads, while Woods struggles

Luke Guthrie had the best round of the tournament. He is in the lead going into the weekend at the Honda Classic. And hardly anyone noticed. Not on a day when defending champion Rory McIlroy walked off the course in the middle of his round. He told reporters he was ''not in a good place mentally,'' and then released a statement saying his wisdom tooth was sore....

McIlroy, Woods start their road to the Masters

When Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy began the year, no one had this in mind for their rivalry. They made their debut in Abu Dhabi last month and both missed the cut. The played in the same tournament last week in the Match Play Championship, and both were eliminated in the first round. The difference is that Woods returned to Torrey Pines the week after missing the cut and left little...

McIlroy picks up ball and leaves course

Rory McIlroy went straight to his car and left the course on his ninth hole friday, withdrawing from the Honda Classic after going 7 over par. McIlroy told reporters in the parking lot that "I'm not in a great place mentally. I can't really say much, guys.

McIlroy leaves, Guthrie leads and Woods struggles

Rory McIlroy left before his round was even over. Tiger Woods had to rally just to stick around. And with all that drama Friday in the Honda Classic, hardly anyone noticed that Luke Guthrie showed off his potential in a big way with a 7-under 63 to take a one-shot lead going into the weekend at PGA National. Guthrie, pegged by many of his peers as a rookie worth watching going...

Serena Williams gets scolded by Honda Classic security for taking photo of Tiger Woods

Serena Williams should know all about spectator etiquette when it comes to sporting events.  After all, the former No. 1 women's tennis player in the world would glare at a fan who was clapping their hands or cheering while she was getting ready to serve. Apparently Williams doesn't think the same manners apply to her after she found out she wasn't allowed to snap a...
