Oh man, does that suck? You’re playing one of the biggest golf matches of the year and you miss it because of the tee time? Vijay Singh did this, failing to show up as he was a no-show for the U.S. Open qualifier.
His streak for playing in every major for 17 straight years will now end. Ouch. Singh has played 67 majors, which is the longest streak among active players.
He played well in the last round, shooting under-seven but told reporters he will not try to qualify on Monday. And he didn’t.
He still has a chance to play, but it’s a slim chance, says AP:
His only other chance would be to win or finish second in the St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn., this week, although it was not certain that the three-time major champion would even play that tournament.
So he did it on purpose? I wonder why.
