The girls basketball team at Bloomington South High School in Bloomington, Indiana is pretty good. The Panthers are 8-1, the only loss coming on the road to a good Center Grove team. The girls basketball team at Arlington High School in Indianapolis has struggled. The Golden Knights are 0-6 and on a 23-game losing streak, stretching back to last season. They’ve averaged only 17 points a game this year and have lost two games by more than 50 points. The unbiased observer would expect Bloomington South to beat Arlington without much trouble. But I don’t know if anyone expected the Panthers to win 107-2. Arlington didn’t score from the field and hit only one free throw in the first half and one in the second. Panthers head coach Larry Winters says that his team wasn’t trying to run up the score. But he didn’t instruct his players to stop shooting (claiming that doing so would have been embarrassing to Arlington), and, well, the final score was 107-2. Arlington coach Ebony Jackson told the Indianapolis Star that her players have very little basketball experience. The school, which was once a part of the Indianapolis Public Schools district, has seen a significant drop in enrollment over the past decade and was recently taken over by a private company called EdPower, which strives to turn around struggling schools. Bloomington South and Arlington signed a contract for a two-game series. It’s likely that the second game, scheduled for next season, won’t happen. “Fans outraged after Bloomington South routs Arlington 107-2 in girls basketball,” IndyStar.com The post Bloomington South (IN) High School Girls Basketball Team Trounces Opponent By Score of 107-2 appeared first on Midwest Sports Fans.
