A newly-hired high school athletic coach thought he had developed a brilliant way to meet new women.Troy Hennum, 25, was hired by Roosevelt High School in Seattle last week to serve as the school's softball coach. His first mission to the players included having them go on a scavenger hunt to take photos of attractive girls and then securing their phone numbers for him.Naturally, Hennum has already been placed on unpaid leave within a week of being of being hired. From The Seattle Times:Katharine Aagard said she was at work at a sporting-goods store last Friday when a group of giggling girls approached, explaining their mission. Later that day, the 21-year-old began receiving text messages from Hennum.“this is troy. The roosevelt softball coach. I had to see if your legit,” he wrote.Aagard responded, and the two bantered over the course of a few hours. She showed those messages to The Seattle Times“Genius, great way to meet a girl, use my girls lol,” he wrote in another text, patting himself on the back for the scavenger hunt.“Are you single? Or am I wasting my time,” he wrote in another message.Eventually, the eligible bachelor proposed the two to meet at a local bar. That never materialized.Aagard informed the school of Hennum's unusual plot and the softball coach learned he was under investigation by Monday. At that point, he decided to give Aagard a call. She didn't answer and he left a message on her voicemail, instead.“I wanted to apologize to you and get on the same page if possible. Hopefully we can get on the same page.”Too late.Perhaps the school should have seen this coming, though. In 2012, Hennum was let go of his coaching duties at another local high school, for sending inappropriate texts to a player during an overnight trip. One of the texts asked the female to meet him alone.Via Deadspin

Warriors owner: No one in organization liked Mark Jackson

By now it’s not a secret that the Golden State Warriors and former head coach Mark Jackson didn’t end their marriage on a high note. Jackson, who led the team to two consecutive playoff appearances and 51 wins a season ago, was fired following the playoffs this past spring. And despite Jackson’s success in Oakland, the Warriors have taken their performance to an entirely new...

Report: Anonymous teammate blasts Robert Griffin III

It’s becoming more and more difficult to see how the Robert Griffin III era in Washington can continue after this season.   Griffin was benched a couple of weeks ago in favor of Colt McCoy, and while reports indicated the Redskins haven’t given up on RG3 just yet, a TMZ Sports report Saturday morning indicates the locker room might indicate otherwise. An anonymous...

Cam Newton on struggles: ‘You realize rainy days don’t last’

To make the observation that the Carolina Panthers are in a horrible slump would be a drastic understatement. After last week’s 31-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Panthers have dropped six-straight games. The Panthers’ last victory was 31-24 win over the Chicago Bears all the way back on Oct. 5. The team tied the...Read More The post Cam Newton on season-long struggles...

Five questions to ask ahead of the MLB Winter Meetings

If you like being pelted with blurry pebbles of information for three or four days in a row (with the occasional blockbuster-ish boulder), prepare yourself: the Winter Meetings are coming. Every general manager in baseball will be at the Hilton Bayfront in San Diego Dec. 7–11, swapping names and tossing around enormous sums of money like playing cards. Alongside them, about...

Redskins tickets selling for as little as $1

To say that the Washington Redskins fan base is a little fed up would be an understatement. The team is now 3-9 on the season and is 6-22 since a surprising playoff campaign back in 2012. If you wanted evidence of a group of fans that really isn’t prepared to support this current product, there is no reason to look further than the ticket prices for Washington’s upcoming home...
