Though his car was dominant, leading 155 of the 200 lap race, it took a little luck for Dario Franchitti to win the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Running out of fuel with one lap to go, Franchitti got the break he needed when an airborne crash sent Mike Conway into the wall and brought out a yellow flag. When Franchitti crossed the finish line, he only had 1.6 gallons of fuel. Image: US Presswire This was the second Indy 500 victory for the Scottish driver; he also won the race in 2007. On the advice of his crew, Franchitti began to slow down considerably to converse fuel with about 15 laps left. Who knows what the outcome would have been without the yellow flag. Franchitti’s victory made Chip Ganassi the first owner to win the Indy 500 and NASCAR’s Daytona 500 in the same year. Post from: EveryJoe Dario Franchitti Wins Indy 500
