NBA starts tonight!!!!!!
I hope everybody had a good weekend, I know mine as usual was a bit busy, but definitely good. I was down in Arizona with my boy Joey Walters promoting our winter camp down there. Joe and I have got a camp business together called Run N' Gun Lacrosse, and we've got camps all over the country. Last summer we were in Vegas, Arizona, Michigan, York, and NY for camps. We've got about 4 this winter, and Phoenix is going to be one of our best locations. Joe and I stopped by this youth league and put on a big shooting demonstration, gave a talk and handed out a bunch of registrations. I always love going to spots like Phoenix where the game is really taking off, the kids are always so appreciative of anything we teach them, excited to learn, and just passionate about the game, it's energizing to be around.
As I mentioned in my last blog, it was homecoming there (ASU) so it was absolutely crazy! Entirely too much going on, especially for a laid back dude who HATES crowds. I was actually able to meet up with a few of my old college buddies who graduated 3 years before me, so it was great to see those guys. I couldn't believe how hot it was there, it was ridiculous! During our shooting demonstration around 2pm, it was 97 degree's and I thought I was going to pass out! It was out of control. Even with it being 97 out there, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as Baltimore is in the summer. It's so bad here you schedule your day only to be outside before 7am and after 7pm (and even then it's still sticky and gross out), so I try not to spend too much time in balto during the summer. Anyway, moving on, I'm reading an awesome book right now called, "The 4-Hour Work Week." It's awesome! Any one who has an unconventional way of writing/thinking is always at the very least interesting to hear/read, even if you don't agree. I actually read half of it on the plane ride back from Phoenix yesterday and it really does make you question the way 90% of the people in American live there lives, interesting stuff. It's filled with GREAT quotes. A few of my favorites.. "Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect." "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man." "Many a false step was made by standing still." It's a GREAT book thus far, and it's a pretty easy read. It's worth picking up and checking out, but don't sit down and read it before you go to bed thinking you'll fall asleep, you'll be up an extra 2 hours. Anyone catch U.S. Senator Barack Obama on MTV last night at 7pm? I thought he did a great job. I've stayed fairly educated on the race, but last night was my first time sitting for an hour and watching him answer questions and interact with the crowd, I was very impressed. It should be interesting to see how this whole thing unfolds. I've always been impressed with politicians ability to remember EVERYONE's name and be able to really adapt to any and every situation thrown there way. It takes a special type of person to be able to do that. Granted their not always the most honest people in the world, but we don't even need to get into that, at least not here. NBA basketball starts tonight! Yup! My sleeping patterns are about to be all jacked up, but I don't care, it's going to be worth every minute of sleep I miss. See the new SLAM magazine? A few pretty good articles in there, especially the one on Kevin Garnette, I really enjoyed it. Seem's like a real interesting dude. He definitely comes off as a very introspective and honest person, and I really hope he and the fella's do their thing in Boston this year. It should be a very chill week for the most part. I'm pretty sure I've reached the age where dressing up for Halloween is a bit wack, unless I'm going to a Halloween specific party type deal, where I'm going to be in one place with all of my friends. The day's of dressing up and going down town to different places for the night are over with out a doubt. I'm pumped to take my niece out for a bit though. The mall is filled with little ones (like 3 and under) on Halloween night, so I know she'll get a kick out of running around there with all of the other kids, so that'll definitely be a stop I'll have to make I'm sure. I hope no older person dressed up tries to scare the kids, cause if he scares my niece I'll have to tackle him in front of everyone! Just kidding...kind of.. Anyway, that's all I got for now, time to get this day started and knock out all of the stuff I need to do before basketball starts tonight! I'll catch up with you all later this week. Oh yeah, I shot a little video of my sister and her "twin sister" playing lacrosse on the beach in FL...she wanted to show everyone her signature move, so..here it is... hahahaha, she's hilarious. I'll catch up with you all soon. KH
