Pre-Game Songs

What's good everybody? I hope you all had great weekends. I'm writing this blog sitting on the plane riding back from Rome to NYC, then eventually to Baltimore tomorrow around 11am or so.

Rome was definitely amazing, and the fact that the sport of lacrosse is growing internationally is great to see.

While we were there we actually had two clinics set up by Fabio Antonelli (who you'll see video off shortly), who is a 22 year old who more or less runs all of Italian lacrosse. He set up a few games this past Friday and Saturday and guys came in from Finland, Germany, Austria, and the Italian guys put together a team as well. For a few hours on Friday and Saturday, Joe Walters and I put on a few clinics and tried to teach the guys as much as possible. The weather was miserable Saturday during the games, but they seemed to think it was great running around soaking wet and muddy, so it was a success.

Being in Rome and being able to see all the incredible architecture was an experience I'll never forget. St. Peters was the most memorable for me because of how beautiful it was, and we were actually able to walk around with someone who explained everything we were looking at. We actually were able to walk down where every pope has been buried, which was very fascinating, and also a little strange. Definitely an experience though. Fabio did a great job of making sure Joe and I got to see everything we could in 7 days. We did a ridiculous amount of walking, but I was digging it. Didn't even think about it really, we were just so busy looking around at everything.

I think we're actually headed back to Rome next November to run a camp, so that should be great. Not only will it be nice to continue to spread the game of lacrosse, but it will be incredible to get back to Italy and hopefully travel around a bit.

Changing pace a bit, I'm sitting here trying to put together my pre-game warm up list on my Ipod for the season. I'm not a jump around screaming type dude as far as getting mentally prepared for games, I just like to sit by myself, shoot a bit and listen to music. For all you athletes out there, what are some of your favorite pre-game songs? Or for sports fans, what songs get you going? Ya don't't have to be an athlete to enjoy songs that get you pumped up! I'd be interested to hear what you guys think! Let me know! I'll list off a few of my all time favorites.

Sky's the Limit is a sick song, KH. You probably can tell I'm a Wayne fan by my pic, but yeah, I listen to Lil Wayne before all my High School football games, any Weezy songs, they are all ill.

ha, you got that right man. Any weezy will do, but this is my all time favorite, for now.

WOW, that is incredible!

KH, You should check out Army of the Pharoahs.... They get me pumped up before games... They kind of remind me of Wu-Tang back in the day...

For real? I'll have to check that out for sure. I'll let you know what I think.

you already got my top pick on your list - till i collapse...how could anyone not start running a little faster when they hear that?

glad you had such a good time in rome - great city!

Rome was amazing with out a doubt.

As for Till I collapse, I couldn't agree more.

A song that really pumps me up is Zombie Nation !!

Haven't heard that one either, but I'll check it out.

Sounds pretty good but you can't go wrong with Thug Mansion-Tupac

True...great song...I'm not sure it'd get me going for a game though. Good song though nonetheless.

Sounds pretty good but u can't go wrong with Thug Mansion-Tupac

You should try Welcome Home- Coheed and Cambria. Every time I listen to that song i get a couple of gouls. I was at your clinic in St. Louis at MICDS. The ball you shot and it hit the post is still stuck in the roof.

Ha, still stuck up in the ceiling huh? Sorry about that. I'll download that song your talking about today.

Love Can't Tell Me Nothing while I'm shooting. The beat just calms me down, and sometimes before a game being calm is better than being pumped. I usually listen to a lot of Kanye while I warm up, keeps me nice and calm, and then right before I play I listen to some metal to get that adrenaline flowing at the right time.

I love listening to Can't Tell Me Nothing while I'm shooting. When I'm warming up, Kanye keeps me calm, which is good before a game. Helps me focus. Then right before the game I crank up some metal to get that adrenaline rush right on time. But definetly while I'm shooting, Kanye is probably the best thing to listen to.

Sorry if that double posts.

hey kyle im one of parker jackson's good friends so ill probably meet you before you read this. check out awnaw by nappy roots though, youve probably heard it before

or oh yeah by lil scrappy

You could always try Up In Here- DMX to pump you up....?

When i'm preparing for a game, the song Come With Me from Puff Daddy really gives me a boost... it's always great to hear that building suspense.
Did you also try pizza's in Rome ? Cause you know what they say! Italian!

I'll share a headphone with you in the locker room and let you get in on nonpoint- In the air tonight

a good song for me is go hard or go home by e-40

n.e.r.d. -Rockstar
Saul Williams - reparations
Nelly - Heart Of A Champion
