I watched game 6 of the World Series last night hoping to see the Rangers win their first title in team history. More importantly though, I was hoping to see my most hated team, Tony LaRussa’s St. Louis Cardinals, fall at home, and NOT win the World Series.

It looked good in the first inning. The Rangers were getting to Jamie Garcia, but the Cardinals were scoring too. The game went back and forth and was tied in the top of the 7th inning when Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz hit back-to-back home runs for the Rangers. Now I’m feeling good. Then I fell asleep. (Hey, I’m getting older. Two kids and a stressful day job really tire me out. And why can’t they start these games earlier?)

So, I wake up around 1AM to find out the Cardinals won on a walk-off home run by David Freese in the bottom of the 11th. WTF? How did that happen? Then I find out the Rangers blew 3 save opportunities (the first time in MLB history that has happened in a World Series game). I couldn’t believe it. How can the Rangers bounce back from that tonight? They were 1 strike away from winning the World Series!

Here are the highlights.

Cardinals players are saying this is the greatest game in World Series history. Of course if they lost, they would be blaming faulty bull pen phones, or doctored baseballs. Sore losers. I hope we get to hear some of those excuses tonight.
