The second-half of the 2012 MLB seasonis officially underway, and my apologies for the rankings being a day late this week. NYY are best team in baseball still. The New York Yankees were the best team in baseball before the All-Star Break and they still are as they took the first two games from the red-hot Los Angeles Angels and are looking to sweep tomorrow. The Rangers are hanging in there but if GM Nolan Ryan doesn’t get them some starting pitching help this team will fall as fast as they rose at the beginning of the season. The biggest losers this season are the Philadelphia Phillies who have no fight in them, which is not going over well with Philly fans who still fill Citizens Bank hoping for a miracle. Well, there is still time as this team has made a late season run before but it will have to be soon and absolutely enormous. Now, I am sure all the Yankees haters are loving that the Bombers are once again at the top of my list. Here are LLP‘s power rankings for week 14 or at ...

A-Rod may 'never speak to Reggie Jackson again'

It looks like Reggie Jackson has struck out with Alex Rodriguez over the comments he made about the Yankee third baseman in a Sports Illustrated article last week. A-Rod is still angry over Jackson's remark that Rodriguez's admitted use of steroids should keep him from joining the Yankee legend in the Hall of Fame. A source told the New York Daily News that Rodriguez is...

Yankees Sign Fukudome to Minor League Deal

Seems like this might be a little insurance in case Brett Gardner cannot make it back. Not sure how much that insurance will pay off however, because in 24 games (51 plate appearances) with the White Sox earlier this season, he hit just .171/.294/.195. Last year, while better than his pathetic start to this season, he hit .262/.342/.370 with only 8 HR and a measly 35 RBI in over...

Yankees take down Angels again

Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson each hit two-run homers off Jerome Williams on Saturday, leading the New York Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Freddy Garcia and three relievers kept Mark Trumbo in the ballpark, denying him a homer in a record sixth straight game against the Yankees. Nick Swisher, who appeared to rob Trumbo of a second long ball Friday night...

Today In Sports History- Nolan Ryan’s 2nd No-Hitter

July 15, 1973 - Nolan Ryan (California Angels) became the first pitcher in two decades to win two no-hitters in a season. Exactly 2 months after his 1st ‘No-No’, Ryan did it again versus Detroit.  The second showing was a little more dominant than his first no-hitter, with Ryan striking out 17 batters while walking 4 in this 9-inning showcase. With the Tigers trailing 6-0 and...

Spike Lee ends up with Mark Teixeira’s bat after it flies into stands (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. Scary moment at Yankee Stadium on Sunday when Mark Teixeira‘s bat went flying into the stands in the bottom of the first against the Angels. However, fear not, compassionate baseball fans: the lumber managed to avoid hitting anybody. But there to end up with the souvenir: Spike Lee, who appears to be more busy heckling people at New York sporting...

Top Play: Curtis Granderson Robs Mike Trout

Curtis Granderson made the catch of the day by robbing fellow center fielder Mike Trout of extra bases on Sunday. Trout launched a 2-1 pitch deep to center field that appeared to be destined for extra bases, as Granderson was shading the Angels top prospect to right center field. After a long run to track the ball down, Granderson made a stellar catch at the warning track just before...

Once Angels' Wilson exits, Yankees rally for win

NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees trailed by three runs Friday, having been limited to two in the first seven innings by one of baseball's best starters. Having finally chased Los Angeles Angels lefty C.J. Wilson, they got to face Scott Downs, who allowed just one earned run in the season's first half. No matter. The Yankees continued to flex their muscles as the team...

Yankees 6, Angels 5

NEW YORK -- C.J. Wilson opened the season's second half by limiting the New York Yankees' powerful offense to two runs in the first seven innings Friday night. So the Yankees just beat up on the Los Angeles Angels' bullpen, rallying for four runs in the eighth in a 6-5 win at Yankee Stadium. Mark Teixeira drove in five runs on two homers, including a game-tying, three...
