For the sixth consecutive year, the United Cardinal Bloggers, one of the premier organized blogging communities in all of baseball, will be conducting one of their signature projects, the progressive game blog.  This year, the organization has selected the May 4 game in Milwaukee for their focus. As is the case every year, each blogger is assigned a portion (usually an inning) of the game.  The blogger will not only describe the action but will use what happens in that portion as a jumping-off point for other ideas and topics.  Each blogger will link to the previous portion and the next portion of the game, forming a circular chain that will allow people to see the game through various eyes. Following the third inning over at Pitchers Hit Eighth, the fourth inning comes to rest here at i70baseball. Ho Hum Pitcher’s Duel The progressive game blog almost always begins with the excitement of a fantasy baseball draft.  The writers anxiously await the official press release from UCB fou...

For once, Wainwright wasn't the problem for Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE The Milwaukee Brewers had finally solved the Adam Wainwright puzzle. But yet again, they just couldn't find a way to put the St. Louis Cardinals away. A pitcher that has long tormented the Brewers, Wainwright was finally vulnerable against Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon, as the Brewers scored three times against him in the sixth inning to take the lead and chase...

Wainwright takes the mound this afternoon in Milwaukee

(AP) -- While Adam Wainwright has had plenty of success against the Milwaukee Brewers, Yovani Gallardo hasn't been able to figure out why the St. Louis Cardinals give him so much trouble. St. Louis seeks a fifth straight win Saturday while sending host Milwaukee to a fourth consecutive defeat. Wainwright (4-2, 2.03 ERA) has gotten off to a solid start, striking out 43 while...

Brewers look to turn the tide on Cardinals

Cardinals complete sweep of Brewers

Jaime Garcia pitched eight innings and Allen Craig drove in four runs to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 10-1 win over Milwaukee and the franchise's first four-game sweep of the Brewers. Matt Holliday also homered for the Cardinals, who have won six straight, their most since taking eight in a row from July 11-21, 2010. It was the first time the Cardinals have four in a row...

Top AAA Starting Pitchers

What I wouldn't give to be a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. What a damn good organization. They already boost a pitching staff with the second best ERA in the Majors and developed Adam Wainwright, Shelby Miller, Jaime Garcia and now they shove John Gast & Michael Wacha in our face!  If I were an MLB GM looking to improve my pitching staff I would try and trade for pitchers...

Psychic Readings Of The St. Louis Cardinals

Do you like Psychic readings? Do you like Cardinals baseball?  Buckle up, then. Because this is your lucky day. A couple of weeks ago, Hollywood Psychics reached out to Cards Diaspora and asked if we've post readings for noteworthy Cardinal players. We could pick whoever we wanted a reading from, and they'd do all the, you know, psychic stuff. Below are the results...

Garcia pitches Cardinals past Brewers 10-1

Brewers Sure Don’t Match Up Well Against St. Louis

(Photo: Jeff Curry/US Presswire) My understanding is the Cardinals had never swept a four-game series against the Brewers.  But after watching those four games, it’s hard to believe the Brewers have ever won against St. Louis.  In three of the games, the Cardinals jumped out to big leads and never looked back.  On Saturday, Milwaukee actually showed some life, scoring five...

Grading the St. Louis Cardinals April

The Cardinals fought their way to first place in April, although they had some staunch opposition in the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds. If we include the May 1st game, the Cardinals handled the Reds much better, going 4-2 against them. Which is great since they are seen as the favorites in the division. Versus the Pirates, however, the Cards went 2-3. The only team they...
