Found June 12, 2013 on The Outside Corner:
The 2014 MLB season will reportedly begin on Saturday, March 22nd...in Sydney, Australia. The Dodgers and Diamondbacks will play on Saturday and Sunday, likely a week or more before the MLB season begins in full, over 7,000 miles from home. I understand the approach of "growing the game", but it seems silly to me that MLB is continuing the process of two teams playing meaningful baseball before the entire league begins play far from their home stadiums. What's even funnier about this is that after the two teams return to America, they'll likely engage in more Spring Training activities and it'll be like the two games in Australia never happened (even though they did). The Dodgers and Diamonabcks will apparently be in Sydney for six days leading into the games, absolutely destroying any semblance of competition for roster spots for the two teams. There's also the issue of starting the season on a weekend where the NCAA Tournament is in full swing, succes...

Dodgers, Diamondbacks clear benches in brawl

Let me set the scene: in the bottom of the sixth inning, Diamondbacks starting pitcher Ian Kennedy plunked Dodgers phenom Yasiel Puig in the head (it looked unintentional).  Puig stayed in the game after being checked out by trainers.  In the top of the seventh, Zack Greinke returned the favor and drilled D’Backs catcher Miguel Montero. And then Don Mattingly chose to leave Greinke...

Would anyone actually trade for Andre Ethier?

Really, Dodgers? We're going to do this again? Really? Just a few days shy of the first anniversary of Andre Ethier signing a five-year, $85 million contract extension, the Dodgers are said to be looking to trade away the former All-Star... for the third time. Yes, that fickle GM Ned Colletti is rumored to be ready to take another crack at ridding himself of that onerous...

Olivia Munn throws out first pitch at game

Olivia Munn, the Geek Goddess beloved by both nerds and admirers of attractive, talented and quirky women alike, threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday at Dodger Stadium. Most impressive — in and above how nice Miss Munn looked in a Dodgers jersey — was [...]The post Olivia Munn throws out first pitch at Dodgers...

Corey Seager Is A Proud American.

I was able to add yet another awesome Corey Seager to my modest collection of the future Dodgers' star. For just a bit over half a blaster, this sweeeeeet patriotic patch piece is now mine.Numbered 09/99, it's a fantastic two colors with some gray jersey mixed in for good measure. The card hails from the Game Gear Jerseys Prime subset of 2013 Panini USA Baseball Champions...

Diamondbacks on the mend continue to progress

It’s good that the Diamondbacks have at least been treading water while they’ve been waiting to get healthy, which is all you could really ask for. They’ve actually played pretty well, and are on the cusp of seeing some key players return to the lineup.

Los Angeles Dodgers newest star sees stars during an ugly night

Yasiel Puig’s early success already has opposing teams sending a message. “Welcome to the big leagues, pal.” That age old cliche’ certainly applied to baseball’s newest sensation, Yasiel Puig, Tuesday night in the Dodgers 4-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Puig, who entered the game batting .500 with four home runs in his nine-game career with the Dodgers, was thrown...

Can Kennedy, D-backs build on dramatic win?

Ian Kennedy is hoping to shake off the worst performance of his career, but he'll have to do it against a team that has already given him some trouble this season. Kennedy tries to continue the visit Diamondbacks' recent dominance of the Dodgers on Tuesday night. After a 5-4 win Monday, Arizona (36-28) seeks its sixth straight win over Los Angeles and 17th in 21 meetings...

Olivia Munn looks hot in a Dodgers jersey, throws out the first pitch and chats up Matt Kemp (VIDEO)

YouTube Before Monday’s Diamondbacks-Dodgers game, it was the Olivia Munn show at Chavez Ravine.  She was the Dodgers special guest to throw out the first pitch, which she properly walked out to the mound to do.  Then, Dodgers catcher Ramon Hernandez flirted his head off with her on the walk back to the dugout (she isn’t interested, Herny). Finally, she made Matt Kemp’s ego...

Los Angeles Dodgers still upset at Arizona Diamondbacks after brawl

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks got into a bean-ball war on Tuesday night, and that led to two benches-clearing standoffs, one of which turned into a brawl. Any hopes that cooler heads would prevail after a day have gone right out the window. The Dodgers are still upset about the fight, as they feel Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy intentionally threw at the heads...

Brandon League Blows Fourth Save of the Season, Dodgers Lose to Diamondbacks 5-4

On Monday night, what looked to be a 3-1 Los Angeles Dodgers victory quickly dissolved in the ninth inning due to Brandon League‘s inability to nail down the save, turning a probable victory into a 5-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. D-Backs starter Wade Miley got off to a rough start in the first inning: he walked Mark Ellis on four pitches before retiring Adrian Gonzalez on...

credited to nbcsports.com West Coast baseball, you got to love it.  Too bad folks out east aren’t awake to witness physical type baseball.  They only here about stories the next morning.  Anytime Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, Zach Greinke is on the mound watch out.  This is the second time he and his team were involved in a bases clearing brawl.  Luckily he wasn’t...
