Its proving tough for teams to defeat both the 1 and 2 starters for the Boston Red Sox. Jon Lester who pitched yesterday and Clay Buchholz who pitched today have both been lights out. Buchholz got the run support he needed today and picked up his 3rd win of the season in his third start. After 2 games of in the series the sox have won both and can clinch a series win against the Rays in tomorrows Patriots Day game. Here are your three stars of the game:
Star 3: Dustin Pedroia
Pedroia went 3-4 today to help the teams cause. While he did not score any runs or have any RBI's his ability to get hits helped fuel the offense. In the top of the ninth inning he helped turn a double play that ended any hopes Tampa had of staging a late rally.
Star 2: Mike Napoli
Napoli went 1-3 today with a double to the triangle in deep center in the second inning plating 2. He later went on to score on a fielders choice hit by Stephen Drew later in the inning. Napoli was at the heart of the Red Sox off...

It's been an exciting weekend for the Red Sox.
On the heels of yesterday's walkoff extra innings win, Clay Buchholz was a few outs shy of a no-hitter this afternoon in a shutout win over Tampa Bay. Buchholz went eight innings surrendering two hits (both in the 8th), behind 11 strikeouts. He did walk four, and as Jerry Remy pointed out near the end of the broadcast, in a...
Clay Buchholz was almost unhittable on Sunday.
Check that. Clay Buchholz has been almost unhittable this season.
Buchholz put hearts in throats on Sunday when he carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning of what was eventually a 5-0 Red Sox win. The bid for a no-no was broken up when Kelly Johnson led off the eighth with a broken-bat single into right field, but it hardly takes...
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz flirted with history on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately he fell short when Kelly Johnson singled in the 8th inning.
Had you bet on the game at Topbet mobile betting, you would have won had you bet on the Red Sox since Buchholz struck out a career-high 11 in a 5-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Check out the highlights from MLB.com....
Clay Buchholz came within six outs of throwing his second career no hitter on Sunday when the Boston Red Sox defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0. Buchholz last threw a no hitter six years ago in 2007. He struck out 11 in his eight inning effort.
The Red Sox scored four times in the third inning when Mike Napoli drove in two runs with a double. Will Middlebrooks almost hit it into an...
With a 7-4 start, the Boston Red Sox are doing just about everything needed to make the fans forget the time frame from the September 2011 collapse through the disastrous 2012 season under Bobby Valentine. This weekend proved to be a microcosm of that goodwill, with the Bosox even coming out of a rainout Friday night with some positive press. In the past, the general feeling was...

What do you consider hot? Do you think buffalo chicken wings are hot? Do you think Tabasco sauce is hot? Do you think banana peppers are hot?
Well I’ll tell you who’s hot right now. Clay Buchholz is on fire, almost as if every pitch he throws cuts the air. John Farrell said that Buchholz needed some adjustments, but he had to have made more than just a few.
The Red Sox have now...
During Sunday's Red Sox-Rays game at Fenway Park a fan in attendance smoothly made a barehanded catch on a foul ball.

Also very impressive on Sunday at Fenway was Red Sox starting pitcher Clay...
11:45 a.m.: The big news coming out Sunday morning is in regards to closer Joel Hanrahan.
Hanrahan, who has struggled in his last three outings, is dealing with right hamstring soreness. He apparently tweaked his hamstring on a pitch during his second appearance of the year in New York.
Farrell described Hanrahan as “day to day,” and the club will look to let the issue settle...
One of the biggest questions surrounding the Tampa Bay Rays heading into this season was in regards to their offense and where would the run production come from after the losses of CF B.J. Upton and 1B Carlos Pena. At this point, the Rays have to be wondering where the hits are going to come from.
On Sunday, the Rays were able to break up a no-hit bid by Boston Red Sox pitcher Clay...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
David Ortiz was scheduled to play in his third game for the Pawtucket Red Sox, Sunday, slotted in to hit third for the PawSox. But prior to the game at McCoy Stadium against Rochester, the designated hitter...
