Found June 11, 2013 on Mets Merized Online:
I think all of us knew the 2013 Mets were not a playoff caliber baseball team. However I was also of the belief that although the Mets were not postseason ready, they would at least be competitive. Boy was I wrong. Here we are a week before Father’s Day, and we find the Mets in total disarray. In fact the Mets have not been relevant since Mother’s Day. So today we present a 3&3 featuring the top three Surprises (players meeting expectations), and the top three disappointments. Masterful Matt: I usually don’t buy into the hype surrounding young players, however Matt Harvey appears to be something special. Matt has a 5-0 record at this point in the season, with a 2.10 ERA. He has struck out 95 batters in 90 innings pitched, and the opposition is batting .196 against him. Pretty much each and every one of Matt’s starts have been quality starts. The intangible that Harvey brings to every game, is he gives his teammates and fans the feeling that the Mets will win that night’s game. ...

Is Harvey Day a Problem?

Please…enough.  I am just as big a fan of Harvey as the next Mets fan.  Believe me, I follow the numbers, I watch the games, I go to a handful of starts.  I know that this guy is more than lightning in a bottle – if anything, he’s a hurricane in a treasure chest…I think? Anyway, the point is, it’s simply embarrassing.  It is! By organizing ‘Harvey Day’ the organization...

Terry Collins just told reporters that Matt Harvey will make his next scheduled start on Thursday against the Cardinals. Go ahead and plan accordingly for Harvey Day… In the eighth inning of last night’s 20-inning 2-1 loss to the Marlins, Harvey was removed from his start with tightness in his lower back. He was cruising before being pulled and held the Marlins to just one...

Matt Harvey, Mets Handle Injury Poorly; Wheeler’s Promotion Delayed

So much for Matt Harvey having composure beyond his years. Harvey’s handling of his minor hip injury Saturday and the Mets’ subsequent response exceeds stupid on so many levels. HARVEY: Leaves game with back tightness. (AP) Harvey “tweaked’’ his back but didn’t tell anybody until after he singled in the seventh inning. So, he feels something is wrong, yet he still goes...

As ‘The Dark Knight of Gotham,’ Mets pitcher Matt Harvey will be ready to start against the Cardinals on Thursday

Thanks to the help of a chiropractor, Mets sensation Matt Harvey feels fine and will be able to start Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals in New York. Drafted by the Mets seventh overall in 2010, the 24-year-old Harvey (5-0, 2.10 ERA) was battling mild tightness in his lower back. According to Chris Iseman and Dave Wilson of...

Mets Can’t Get Over “Harvey Fernandez” Syndrome with another Marlin’s Sweep at Citi

TweetSaturday’s Mets game with Matt Harvey going against the Marlin’s Jose Fernandez took 6 hours and 35 minutes to complete, a 2-1 Marlins victory that went 20 innings, the longest game in the history of CitiField. It was reminiscent of 3 years ago when the Mets went 20 innings against the Cardinals on April 17th, 2010. They won that game, by the way, but that 2010 team that...

Mets' Matt Harvey on track for next start

New York Mets right-handed starting pitcher Matt Harvey threw a routine bullpen session yesterday without issue, and he remains on track to make Thursday's start against the St. Louis Cardinals, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Harvey gave Mets fans a scare during his last outing, as he exited the appearance with back tightness. He was lifted from the game after he...

Mets With Money To Spend in 2014? Extend Matt Harvey

It took the Mets thirty innings, ten hours and one rainout to lose two more games to the Miami Marlins over the weekend. That makes five straight losses to Miami, over successive weekends. Let that sink in for a minute. The Miami. Marlins. The Marlins, who have won just 18 of their 63 games. The Marlins, who do not have a winning record against any team in either league ...

Weather Could Keep Harvey, Wheeler Day From Happening

Looks like Harvey-Wheeler Day may be in real jeopardy of not happening. There is now a strong likelihood that this afternoon’s game against the Cardinals could be postponed as heavy rains and dangerous lightning head into our area. If today’s game against the Cardinals is washed out, it would mean that Matt Harvey’s start would be pushed to Friday against the Cubs, making it...

Series preview: Mets offer one compelling matchup

The Cardinals did not face Mets ace Matt Harvey when the teams played a four-game series at Busch Stadium last month. They will not miss Harvey this week at Citi Field. The 24-year-old right-hander will oppose Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright in a Thursday matinee matching two pitchers in contention to start the All-Star Game. Harvey, in his second season, has emerged as one of the...

Wheeler Says He’s Ready, How He Compares To Harvey

Mark Hale of the New York Post spoke with Zack Wheeler who told him that he;s ready for the challenge that awaits him. “Overall, I feel like I’m ready,” Wheeler said. “My past two starts, I haven’t been happy with my command, especially my last start. In the fifth inning I started to leave a lot of balls up. It happens. You just need to find the command and feel more comfortable...

Preview: Wainwright, Harvey duel in rubber game

(AP) -- Although Adam Wainwright is in position to win a career best-tying fifth consecutive start, he's lost four in a row to the New York Mets. He also figures to face stiff competition from counterpart Matt Harvey, who appears to be good to go following last week's injury scare. Wainwright takes the mound opposite the unbeaten Harvey as the visiting St. Louis Cardinals...

Mets To Go With Six-Man Rotation

Now this is a good idea… Terry Collins just spoke to reporters and said when Zack Wheeler is promoted for his first start on Tuesday in Atlanta, the Mets will go with a six-man rotation for at least one turn. Here is what it looks like: Thursday vs Cardinals: Matt Harvey Friday vs Cubs: Shaun Marcum Saturday vs Cubs: Jon Niese Sunday vs Cubs: Jeremy Hefner Monday at Braves...
