Found April 16, 2013 on Burning River Baseball:
Player of the Game In a competition of relievers, Nick Hagadone (2.56 POG score) takes the cake with two innings pitched as he allowed just two walks and no hits or runs. The lefty struck out three as well and just barely edged out Bryan Shaw (2.51 POG), who struck out four in 1.1 innings. It is Hagadone's first award of the season and just the second won by any relief pitcher in 2013. Feathers Up Cody Allen was phenomenal, throwing two more innings than he should ever have had to. In three innings, he struck out six and allowed no earned runs of his own, although he did allow his three inherited runners to score. The fact that he was needed in the second inning is a "Feathers Down." In a similar vein, Nick Hagadone was also excellent, coming in for relief of Allen. He threw two innings and showed that he has no trouble getting out hitters on either side of the plate. In fact, he struck out the last two batters to end the sixth inning, both right hander...

Terry Francona Seems to Have Work Cut Out for Himself in Cleveland (Video)

Terry Francona will always have a special place in the hearts of Red Sox fans, but it won’t necessarily be evident this week. With the Red Sox facing off against their former skipper during a three-game series in Cleveland, the Sox will have to put aside their affection for Tito and do what he taught them to: win. With John Farrell at the helm now, the new-look Boston squad is...

The Grass Isn't Going to be any Greener for Tito with that Rotation

Tonight, Terry Francona sat in the dugout opposite his old club, managed by his old pitching coach in front of an announced crowd of 9,143 fans. Not to attendance shame the Cleveland fans, but the atmosphere at Progressive Field paled in compassion to anything Francona likely ever experienced in his seven years in Boston.  As Felix Doubront labored through five innings, Cleveland...

Indians Fly Progressive Field Flag at Half-Mast as Cleveland Welcomes Red Sox to Town (Photo)

As the Red Sox travel away from the confines of Fenway Park for a short three-game road trip, they likely do so with heavy hearts. However, with tributes to the Boston Marathon tragedy coming in from around the world, the Cleveland Indians are also showing due respect as they welcome the Red Sox to Progressive Field. As noted by multiple Red Sox beat writers, the flag in center field...
