Max Scherzer of the Arizona Diamondbacks was two years old when Jamie Moyer made his major league debut back in 1986. Scherzer made his first career start tonight and Moyer, with his 21 years of experience, schooled the rookie, leading the Phillies to a 11-4 win over the D-backs.
Moyer put together one of his better performances of the season, going 7 innings and scattering 6 hits. He struck out 5 D-backs and gave up only 2 runs. At one point, he sent down 10 hitters down in a row. Moyer also showed some prowess with the bat, going 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. He even dropped down a good bunt to advance the runners in the 7th inning.
