Somebody asked me, "Did you stay up for the game?"

"Yea...," I slowly answered....and then I realized (or recalled)...the Wizards lost that effing game last night.

Did they, or did they not, have any business losing?

The answer is obvious: of course.

Still, those damn kids started off so well...dunking the ball all over the damn place.

But when Steve Novak (6-10 from deep), Eric Gordon (4-8) and even Fred Jones (3-4), came calling, the Wizards ignored the ring.

It didn't even seem so much the defensive scheming of Ed Tapscott and Randy Ayers, as often accused. Rather, the Wizards players were simply lackadaisical in paying attention to the 3-point line.

Well....eff that....and, oh well.

Game Blog Time!

Q1

11:00:
Dom McGuire out hustles Baron Davis to a loose ball....dunk....like it.

8:16: Give and go between Dom and Jamison...Clippers leave the lane wiiiiide open...D-Mac dunk. 10-6 Wiz.

7:45: Andray is forcing it...trying to dribble too much against Thornton...gets it poked away, turns it over, commits the foul.

7:10:
But Andray is killing on offense though.....with agility...and made jumpers (6 points).

6:07: Blatche is being aggressive....almost selfishly....He gets his second foul and takes a seat, pissed. 14-9 Wiz.

5:35: McGee throws down an oop from McGuire resulting in oohs and ahhs from La-La land. 16-9 Wizards.

D-Mac is 2-2 FG, 2 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal...invaluable. Can you imagine once this guy really gets a nuance for the game?

2:45: McGee holds his position...moves his feet....goes up straight...and blocks Kaman.

Clipper Boo Birds

On the other end...Jamison leaves a floating pass for JaVale to catch and dunk. 27-14 Wiz - Jamison is 0-3 on FGs, but has 4 assists.

2:00: 10 assists on 14 made baskets for the Wiz...up 29-16....aren't we always good when we pass well?

Wiz shooting 63% with 22 points in paint......but let the Clips cut into the lead with three 3-pointers in the final two minutes. 32-27 Wiz after one.

Q2

10:26: McGuire perfect oop to a flying Nick Young....sharing is caring! Man these kids look fun to watch. 38-29 Wiz.

9:01: Young smooth jump shot...6 points off the bench. Imagine him getting hot quickly like he has in the past two games when everyone is healthy? I do.

8:23: Young reverse slam....this game is already a manual erase on the DVR...Dunk City. 44-33 Wizards.

8:00: And now McGee has 11 points, 5-5 FGs, in 10 minutes off the bench....gotta be happy about the kids playing. I wonder what Wizards fans are going to bitch about now?

4:00: Just as soon as the Wiz build a lead, they get comfortable in their offense and are having breakdowns on D....Steve Novak is killing...he had two 3s at the end of the first and now 6 points in the last 30 seconds. 52-47 Wiz.

Funny Moment: Phil Chenier is about to answer the Legal Sea Food Trivia: Name only 2 players "cat eating grin"

1:00: Now the Wiz are on a 12-2 run thanks to Jamison who has awakened offensively.

Wizards up 64-56 at the half -- Bench had 24 points, 11-15 FGs, 1 turnover -- Wiz are 2 pts. shy of 1st half season best

Q3

Wizards leaving juuuust enough space for three point shooters...the one McGuire just gave Gordon wasn't even from a penetration and collapse into the lane...a perimeter pass in early offense.

Blatche gave Novak too much room trailing prior to that....Quickly 64-62 Wiz in one minute.

9:40: D-Mac gives Eric Gordon too much room again as he took time to stare down then nail it. 68-65 Wiz.

8:32: Point Blatche...behind his back around Eric Gordon....no court vision...bounce pass gets picked off.

Juan Dixon has a strained right Achilles....more Mike James!

8:00: Once again, the Wiz "matchup zone" doesn't communicate and keep up with Novak....trey ball. 72-70 Wiz...18 points for Novak.

3:20:

Steve Buckhantz: "This team has gone crazy with 11 three pointers in the game."

Phil Chenier: "And They're ALL shooting them now."

SIX (6) threes in the 3rd for the Clips...so far.

2:06: Teams come out a timeout....McGuire sags in too far on Kaman posting McGee...leaves too much space between him and Gordon....trey ball. 88-86 LA-LA

Kaman has a quiet 19 and 6 off the bench.

Young hits a corner three on a broken play with 2 seconds left...he has 14 points on 5-7 shooting off the bench. Tied at 93 heading into the 4th.

Q4

11:20: McGee with dribble pen and a great timing bounce pass to Crittenton cutting through on his side.

10:50:...Oh Andray!....strong enough to get post position on Novak...but can't finish strong against him....Novak trey on other end. 6 of 'em for the game. 100-95 Clips.

10:12: Nick you heating up in his mid range comfort zone though. He has 18 points.

Damn...Baron Davis has 17 assists and 8 points? He's trying to get his on O-ffense now.

6:19: Jamison knocks down a tough bucket. 105-103 Clips.

Still.....Swiss Cheese Wiz D - 31 assists to 46 FGs for LA.

Wiz offense has become befuddled...Jamison can post..kinda...Mike James tries to drive...sometimes. Otherwise, not a lot of motion.

Wiz had three chances to tie at 105...Clips make a bucket and two FTs.....LA up 6 109-103 now....Young off balanced long miss.

3:30: And Jamison misses an open baseline J....Clippers finds gaps...up 111-103...and that might do it.

2:20: Wiz bumble and rush a key possession...miss a tough shot...Clippers alley oop. 113-104 LA.

See ya.

1:32: Still here...Baron Davis penetrates and gets his 19th assist on a trey as the Wizard packed in their effort long ago.

Lucky Loss #53.

What an insult...with 1:30 left...Tapscott tries to send McGuire in...the clock continues to run and he finally goes back to bench.

If Mike James
