One of Josh Jones’ projects each spring is to comb the spring training rosters of all of the other 29 MLB organizations and locate all of the former Cardinals in major league camps. His 2011 census follows.
This year, there are 30 ex-Cards players currently on MLB 40-man rosters. That includes several players that actually never appeared with St. Louis, including Rule 5 pitcher Brian Broderick. The former Springfield hurler must stick with Washington or be placed on waivers and could potentially return to the Cardinals organization.
In addition, 34 other former Cardinals players are in spring training camps, trying to make their new clubs as non-roster invitees. Both lists follow.
