I’ve been dreading this road trip for quite a while. Well, not Baltimore so much, but Oakland and Toronto. Oakland is, and always will be, a pain in the ass to the Angels. There is about 30 people in the stadium, the team is going no where, but they play the Angels like it’s the 7th game of the World Series.
I knew for the Angels to remain close to the Rangers, they would need at least one of their back end starters to pitch well. One pitched horribly, while the other pitched less than mediocre.
We all now the horrible one. It’s our guy Joel Piniero. Pineiro, who gave up 4 walks, and 7 earned runs his last start here, did it again on Monday. Well…not completely. The last time he walked 4 of the first 5 batters he faced. Monday he walked 2 of the first 3 batters. The 4th hitter, Josh Willingham, hit a dart over the left field wall. Angels down 3-0 before the 30 people could blow their vuvuzelas. Pineiro lasted 3 innings, giving up 5 earned runs.
