Burning River Baseball:
Player of the Game
It was the Carlos Santana show today as he was a huge contribution to the offense. Santana hit a home run in his first at bat, singled in his second, and doubled in his third. Santana ended the day with a score of 6.31, going 3-5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.
The Indians offense took a great approach in the first 3 innings facing Minnesota starter, Esmerling Vasquez: Don't swing. In his short outing, Vasquez walked 5 batters. The offense took advantage of this as they even hit 2 sacrifice flies to score a couple runs.
Russ Canzler continues to succeed at the Major League level. He has now hit in all 7 games he has played in. His hit today was a big one, an RBI single in the 5th inning that scored the go-ahead run for the Indians.
The Indians tied the game in the 8th when Jason Donald hit a triple that scored Brent Lillibridge, who was hit by a pitch.
Good thing there are expanded rosters, because the Indians sure have been...
BEST OF MAXIM
Paul Hoynes of The Plain Dealer reported Friday night that third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall could rejoin the big league Indians when the Aeros wrap up their postseason in the next week (possibly as soon as tonight). Manager Manny Acta said he wouldn’t play every day if brought up:
“We have to make a decision if we’re going to bring him here or continue to play him at Lake County...
MINNEAPOLIS Pedro Florimon made things look easy on Monday night as he patrolled shortstop for the Minnesota Twins.
The 25-year-old Florimon, playing in just his 26th career big league game, turned in a pair of nifty defensive plays in Minnesota's 7-2 win over visiting Cleveland. The first of the two ended the top of the sixth inning as Florimon chased down a ground ball deep...
MINNEAPOLIS Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau hit two homers in Sunday's win over the Cleveland Indians, including the walk-off game winner in the bottom of the ninth inning.
In the grand scheme of things, the home runs weren't the important part.
What mattered most, at least in a big-picture sense, was that Morneau was on the field and producing in September...
In the Indians' 7-6 win at Minnesota Friday night, Roberto Hernandez missed his second consecutive start
due to a sprained right ankle. Indians officials are being very vague about any timetable for the return of
Hernandez, who is wearing a walking boot on his foot. Hernandez has already missed most of the 2012 season, following his arrest for identity theft in his
MINNEAPOLIS The list of names kept rolling. Former players. Former teammates. Retired numbers. Every one of them holds a place in the hearts of Twins fans, but for one evening, it wasn't about them. It could have been monotonous, this name after name after name, long walk after long walk across the same stretch of outfield that current players cover so quickly. But it wasn&...
The Indians dropped the second game of their weekend series in Minnesota on Saturday night, falling 3-0 at Target Field. The Tribe lineup managed just four measly hits off a combination of Cole De Vries and three Twins relievers.

Justin Morneau hit his second homer of the game in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Minnesota Twins to an 8-7 win over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
With one out in the ninth, Morneau hit the first pitch from Indians reliever Vinnie Pestano (3-2) just inside the right field foul pole for his 19th homer of the season. Morneau, who has four two-homer games this season...
Player of the Game
In his first game back from the DL, Lonnie Chisenhall had a walk and a home run and won the Player of the Game. He was the only player who did anything worth mentioning at all and finished the game with a score of 3.18.
Rehab Update: Both Carlos Carrasco and Hector Rondon pitched single scoreless innings in last night's game for Akron. It...
Player of the Game
Frank Herrmann and Tony Sipp tied for Player of the Game for the first tie in Player of the Game history. Each pitcher threw a perfect inning with a strike out. The top scoring offensive player was Shin-Soo Choo with two singles for a score of 0.43.
The Indians season is one game closer to being over.
The Twins had what ended up...
What happened to the Twins?
Saint Paul, MN
Ah, yes, the Minnesota Twins. What did happen to those paragons of fundamentally sound baseball? An analysis of such depth requires patience, dedication and an insatiable hunger for the truth, so I put the RSBS interns to the task and they have provided the following slide show:
New ballpark! Yay...
Happy afternoon. Nothing better than college football. Well, I guess wat until tomorrow.
A very scary incident from from the Tulane-Tulsa game, where safety Devon Walker had to be resuscitated and given a tracheotomy on the field.
Hey good news! The Twins aren’t raising ticket prices!\
Who will have the first pick in 2013?
Kansas City 7, Chicago 5 – If they...
