Bugs & Cranks:
Joe Morgan never did it. Neither did Ryne Sandberg. Both came close on a pair of occasions but couldn't seal the deal. In fact, only one second baseman in major league history has hit 30 homers and stolen 30 bases in the same season ? Alfonso Soriano, who's done it three times (02 & 03 NYY, 05 TEX).
Of the many decades and eras, All-Star's and Hall of Famer's, just one keystoner has pulled it off ? until now. Enter a 26-year-old second sacker who was dealt last spring for a career minor leaguer but has since put the senior circuit on its collective ear. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Brandon Phillips.

Let's hope the Reds lock him up, guys like him come around very often. I was a huge fan of Barry Larkin and this is the closest thing we have to him. He ain't Barry, but the Reds need something to build around.

Cubs Switching to Mexican League
Honestly?
I can't believe this article in the Sun-Times.
I hope that sale for inflatable air mattresses is still going on at Walmart. All those folks barreling off the Cubs' bandwagon will need something to cushion the fall.
It's bad when your home-town paper starts throwing in punches along with the towel.

I'm Not Sure If This Is Cool Or Sad: A Mini-Wrigley?
A guy in Freeport, Illinois has spent the last five years building the largest replica ever built of Wrigley Field. I can't decide if this is one of the most awesome things ever done or one of the stupidest. You tell me.
Why Opposing Instant Replay In Baseball Makes You An Idiot
Let me simplify the replay in baseball argument for everybody: if you're against it, then you're an idiot. I'm looking at you Joe Morgan, Kevin Kennedy, and anyone else who has spoken up against replay over the last few weeks. What is it about baseball that makes everyone so afraid of progression and change? Here's some of the stupider points people make against instant replay:
My Ears File Restraining Order Against Joe Morgan's Mouth
Thats right I'm filing a Restraining Order on behalf of my ears against Joe Morgan's mouth and any words uttered about baseball.
ESPN Hates You: Joe Morgan to Call both NY Games
Joe Morgan, who is currently calling the Mets/Dodgers game for ESPN, will be given a police escort from Shea Stadium to Yankee Stadium so that he can call the Tigers/Yankees game later on tonight.
The Hater Nation had this to say..."ESPN, obviously inspired by FOX's failed Joe Buck NFL Today experiment, is doing one better by having Joe Morgan broadcast both baseball...
Joe Morgan Admits What We All Knew

Sutcliffe Returning To ESPN Baseball Tonight
Rick Sutcliffe seems to be well on his way to beating Colon Cancer, which he was diagnosed with this past Spring, and he'll be in the booth for tonight's Braves-Mets game on ESPN. From The Chicago Tribune via SbB....Sutcliffe returns to the broadcast booth Wednesday for the Atlanta Braves- New York Mets game, his first as an ESPN analyst since being diagnosed with colon...
George Clooney, A Talk Show Host, A Catcher And A Doctor Walk Into A Bar....
Of all the random things in this World, none could be more random than the presence of Johnny Bench and Dr. Joseph Morgan, appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show with George Clooney, and thanks to Big League Stew, we have the clip! According to MLB.com, everyone from the Chippendales to Barack Obama to Brad Pitt, have tried to get Danny Ocean on the show, but only the "Big Red...
Baseball For Dummies Taught By Retard
Joe Morgan is a complete idiot. His hard-headed stubborn refusals to look at anything beyond what he deems to be true has ruined many games that he has called for ESPN. His unbearable ego and sense of self-importance make me want to throw up, and even inspired the well-respected and now-defunct FireJoeMorgan.com. Well I don't know how I missed this before, but Bleacher Nation...
Is Yanks-Sox losing it's buzz?
From Joel Sherman:
You see, we in the media are as addicted to Red Sox-Yankees as any junkie is to a drug. We have all decided to ignore realities that this series has lost a good deal of its juice the past few years, and now contains two of the worst traits of modern baseball: The games are usually way too long and too often come with the commentary of Joe Morgan. In fact...
Three words that will change your life: Jive Soul Bro
We've all had life changing moments, like when we first saw Vinny Testaverde's hair, or when we first heard Avery Johnson speak, or when we first discovered that Joe Morgan was a lizard-fish, but this one might very well stop time completely.
It's the greatest and most important video ever made.... "Jive Soul Bro" by Slick.
Your Full World Baseball Classic Schedule
I was a little bit jumpy with the whole announcer thing yesterday involving the WBC. Yesterday's list was actually just the World feed list of broadcasters, while the full set of games, that will be airing on the MLB-N and ESPN, is below. While Gary Thorne and Rick Sutcliffe won't be destroying our brains (Congratulations, World!), we will be getting our first look and listen at...
What 24 Hours Of College Hoops On ESPN Taught Us About The Network
This post is about a day old, but after staying up until 4am and then getting up at 8am the same day to continue watching the ESPN "Tip Off Marathon", it's taken me a bit to process the overkill. Well overkill isn't really that right term. That would insinuate that I didn't enjoy all of the coverage, which isn't true, so let's use the term "surplus". USA Today's blog, Game On...

Yardwork: Joe Morgan is Hard for David Wright
Phillies 5, Mets 4: The Phillies choked away a 4-0 lead in the sixth and Brad Lidge nearly choked away the win in the 9th, but the Phils avoided the sweep. Chase Utley had two homers (eight for the season) and four RBI . Somewhere, Joe Morgan stands in awe of David Wright.
