No idea why the Pirates and Mets are playing at 1:10 today, but they are and that means I can't watch them. Paul Maholm looks to make some headway after his last good start was wasted against the Brewers and he'll go against John Maine, who's off to a pretty rough start this year. Both today and tomorrow are pretty favorable pitching matchups for us, so hopefully we can steal a win here. A few quick notes from the Trib: Adam Melhuse was signed and sent to AAA to provide some depth at catcher with Doumit out, Matt Capps might pitch today, and Jimmy Barthmaier is getting TJ and will be out for the season. That's pretty rough news about Barthmaier; I thought he was pretty intriguing last year at AAA and was hoping maybe he'd push for a rotation spot if Karstens was struggling this year. That will obviously no longer be the case.

Gameday #30 at Mets

Pirates (12-17) at Mets (15-13) 1:10–Citi Field, New York TV: FSN Pittsburgh, SNY [Here is the MLB Gameday] —————————————— If anyone can end this funk, it’s Paul Maholm. I swear, at least half of this losing streak has been punctuated by the Pirates failing to take advantage of pitching matchups in which they seem to have the upper hand. Today is [...]

When will it end?

Paul Maholm was bloop-singled to death to the point where he eventually took out his frustration on a John Maine pitch for his first career homer. Unfortunately, the solo shot made the score 6-1 Mets. Furthermore, Maholm would go out for the next inning and allow a quick homer to Carlos Beltran. It was that [...]

Mr Mets Daily - Mets make it 5 straight!!!!Mets make it 5 straight!!!!

A little more then a week ago, the NY Mets were adept at finding ways to lose----blown leads by the bullpen, fielding errors, baserunning errors, leaving runners in scoring position, etc. Now, the Mets have ripped off five straight wins and are finding ways to win---this is much more fun! Last night Jon Niese, up to the bigs to replace the badly struggling Oliver Perez, delivered...

Mr Mets Daily - Mets keep it rollin!!!!

Make it six straight wins for the Ny Mets! The Mets look like a totally different team then they did just two weeks ago. The Mets pounded out seventeen basehits this afternoon in a 10-1 romp over the Pittsburg Pirates at Citi Field! Say what you will about their competition ( I realize the Pirates are not to be confused with the '27 Yankees), still, they are an MLB team and...
